(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- Upon opening The Fox & Falcon by David Burke, which opened in February this year, the internationally awarded celebrity chef promised to make The Fox & Falcon a fun, exciting spot to go any night of the week. So far, he has added sushi to the menu, more open hours, introduced more enticing cost saving midweek nights, an outdoor patio - now dog friendly - live music and a new night for lovers of the spoken word: Open Mic Night on Monday nights. The Fox & Falcon welcomes word artists of all sorts and levels. So, whether you are a comedian, songwriter, poet, confessionalist, spoken word artist, storyteller or freeform creative on Mondays you get your moment in the spotlight, a mic and a willing audience to test your craft.
Open Mic Night is just the latest in a slew of incredibly fun, exciting nightly events at The Fox & Falcon, which has been the site for several previous taverns. The Fox & Falcon continues the tradition of providing a welcoming spot with delicious food, refreshing beverages and friendly vibe to gather with friends, neighbors and even complete strangers. On any given night at The Fox & Falcon you can be certain - as the Irish say on the Emerald Isle - “The craic was not only good, it was ninety!”
The Fox & Falcon by David Burke is the latest to join Chef Burke’s empire of 18 restaurants and several culinary enterprises spanning the globe. Chef Burke is known to utilize a hands-on style, so expect to see him walking the rooms at The Fox & Falcon and popping in and out of the kitchen. He may even make an appearance on Open Mic Night. Each year he responds to many requests for public speaking appearances. Recently he delivered a commencement speech at the Johnson Wales University’s Charlotte, NC, campus, where he also received an honorary doctorate degree in business administration; and last year he was a featured TEDx speaker.
The Fox & Falcon offers a dynamic, multi-level space with four bars and several unique rooms, each reflecting its own personality and purpose, all under the same roof. Guests can choose from “The Snug”, a traditional Irish pub setting at the street-level serving casual pub fare, or the well-appointed Essex Bar and spacious dining room located on the main level with a second bar, which in addition to the new main Modern American menu, also offers a sushi and dumpling menu. It is a welcoming neighborhood spot for meeting friends, a family gathering, or a well-deserved and romantic date night out with plenty of engaging activities too, such as Trivia nights, comedy shows, live music and open mic night. There are also multiple spaces for private dining to accommodate social or business events.
The Fox & Falcon is conveniently located at 19 Valley Street in the South Orange business district steps from the NJ Transit train station and a short drive from Seton Hall University and SOPAC.
