The Clydes to Release Three New Singles

originally published: 03/05/2025

Good things come in threes, right? Veteran New Jersey alt-rock band The Clydes are set to release three new singles over the coming months. And at the end of it will come a new album.

The group, led by brothers Brent (vocals) and Brian (guitar) Johnson and bassist Andrew Orlando, will release the first single, 'Sleeping On The Side Of Your Head,' on March 7 on Mint 400 Records, the Jersey label they have been with for years.

It's a surging song about finding good things on the horizon even as you get older and more weary.

“I like riffs that lead to possibilities and surprises — and there are melodic surprises at every turn on this one," Brian says of the song. "The music came fairly quickly. Brent and I wrote this by sending sound files to each other over the phone. I sent him the music and he wrote the vocal melody and a change within what felt like 20 minutes. There’s sometimes a universal truth in that type of writing at times. It’s natural and who you are. This might be the catchiest song we’ve ever written.”

Brent added melody and lyrics to Brian's musical idea.

“I wanted it to sound like the music and the words keep driving and stretching forward, like you can’t see an end to the horizon,” Brent says.

Joining on drums was veteran Jersey musician Zakk Ekonomidis. It all was recorded at Retromedia Sound Studios in Red Bank, N.J., with producer Adam Vaccarelli.

The next two singles will come later this year. The Clydes will record the full album in the months ahead.
