Jeff Healey Band, The
"See The Light"

Released in 1988

Jeff Healey was a blues guitarist from Toronto, Canada. He lost his sight as a baby, but learned how to play guitar with the instrument on his lap. Years later, he would show the playing style to the world in the film "Road House". The album's highlight is a cover of John Hiatt's "Angel Eyes" tune, but it's full of solid blues tunes that feature Jeff's amazing guitar licks.

Makin Waves Song of the Week: "Gibraltar" by Defecting Grey

Each year-end coverage of Makin Waves features "The Dirty Jersey Dozen," a list of the 12 indie Jersey music acts that made the most waves. Two bands that likely would be on the all-time Dirty Jersey list are Gigantic, a Jersey Shore trio inspired by the primal pop of The Pixies and Nirvana, and Alternative Tentacles recording act Buzzkill, also a trio from the days when New Brunswick was the state's best music scene.
