(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- On Saturday, March 15, 2025, Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC) presents Three for the King, a compelling afternoon of theatre featuring a staged reading of three short plays by Renee Flemings. Showtime is 3:00pm.
Every Martin Luther King Day, playwright Renee writes a short play inspired by Dr. King's life and teachings. This year, JCTC presents a staged reading of three powerful short plays that examine how far we have - or have not - come since the Civil Rights Movement. Through storytelling, we spark conversation about justice, equality, and the ongoing fight for civil rights.
JCTC believes in the power of storytelling to spark meaningful conversations. Three for the King is more than just a play reading—it’s an opportunity for the community to reflect, discuss, and engage with the ongoing struggle for equal rights. Dr. King's legacy challenges us to confront injustice and imagine a more just future, and through these plays, we examine where we stand today in that journey.
Three for the King is directed by Laura E. Johnston and features CK Allen, Renee Flemings, Anthony Franqui, Kailah S. King, and David Marantz*.
Tickets are $10 and available for purchase online. Jersey City Theater Center is located at 165 Newark Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Join them for this thought-provoking evening as they honor Dr. King’s vision, inspire dialogue, and encourage action toward a more equitable society. After this reading, the audience is invited to stay and listen to a live Black Space conversation with JCTC’s Associate Artistic Director, Ashley Nicole Baptiste, where she will interview the Playwright about her work, and allow the audience to ask questions as well.
