(NEWTON, NJ) -- The Newton Theatre presents Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Roger McGuinn on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Doors are at 7:00pm, showtime is 8:00pm.
Mr. Tambourine Man not only lived history, he made history with his fearless sense of experimentation. As the leader of the influential 60s group, The Byrds, he was on the leading edge, combining the rock beat of the Beatles with the folk sensibilities of Bob Dylan, to create the genre known as “folk-rock.”
McGuinn's groundbreaking work on The Byrds “Sweetheart Of The Rodeo” album, is widely credited with ushering in the genre of country-rock. Roger’s solo career began in 1973 and has yielded 13 albums, a Grammy nomination, and extensive touring and performing for enthralled audiences ever since. Most recently Roger has been working on his 2018 album, “Sweet Memories” and has been seen on stage with Chris Hillman and Marty Stuart and The Fabulous Superlatives during the Sold Out “Sweetheart Of The Rodeo 50th Anniversary Tour”.
Tickets range from $39-$59 and are available for purchase online starting Friday, March 7 at 10:00am. The Newton Theatre is located at 234 Spring Street in Newton, New Jersey.
When McGuinn disbanded the Byrds in 1973, he began his lifelong dream of a solo career inspired by folk singer, Pete Seeger. This Grammy Award-winning artist tours the world delighting audiences with the songs and stories from his long and continually productive musical career.
Roger McGuinn was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 as a member of The Byrds.
