(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Ocean County College Repertory Theatre Company will present Peter Shaffer's Tony Award-winning play, Amadeus, on March 14-16 and March 21-23, 2025. Performances will take place in the Black Box Theater (Building 11B) at the Grunin Center for the Arts, located on the main campus of Ocean County College.
In the court of the Austrian Emperor Joseph II, Antonio Salieri is the established composer. Enter the greatest musical genius of all time: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Salieri has given himself to God so that he might realize his sole ambition, to be a great composer. Mozart is a foul-mouthed, graceless oaf who has that which is beyond Salieri’s envious grasp: Genius.
Directed by Paul Chalakani, this production is made possible through the generous support of the Ocean County College Foundation. The cast includes Jeff Bodnar (Antonio Salieri), Brendan Keffner (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), Taylor Bongarzone (Constanze Weber), Bill King (Joseph II), Kyle Bodie (Count Johann Kilian von Strack), Brian Lodato (Count Franz Orsini-Rosenberg), Angel Berrios (Barron Gottfried Van Swieten), Johnny Friedman (Venticello), Grey Kellerman (Venticello), Bridget Magnusson (Theresa Salieri/Ensemble), Kyra Griggs (Katherina Cavelieri/Ensemble), Rosa Spalliero (Cook/Ensemble), and Zach Zabarsky (Valet/Major Domo/Ensemble).
Performances take place Friday, March 14 at 7:30pm; Saturday, March 15 at 2:00pm & 7:30pm; Sunday, March 16 at 2:00pm; Friday, March 21 at 7:30pm; Saturday, March 22 at 2:00pm & 7:30pm; and Sunday, March 23 at 2:00pm. The OCC/REP provides OCC students, faculty, staff, and residents of neighboring communities the opportunity to attend and/or participate in quality performances of theatrical works – musicals and plays, classical and modern, traditional and experimental, through a well-balanced theatrical season. Additionally, the OCC/REP provides an environment for students of our performing arts program to apply what they are learning in a collaborative and encouraging format. The OCC/REP celebrates the power of the theatre to illuminate and mirror the human experience.
