(LEONIA, NJ) -- The Players Guild of Leonia presents The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer weekends from March 21 through April 6, 2025. Larry Kramer's largely autobiographical play depicts the rise of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in New York City from 1981–1984. The production is directed by Claudia MacDermott.
The story follows Ned Weeks, a gay writer and reluctant activist who becomes an outspoken advocate for the “cancer” affecting the gay community. Ned fights to raise awareness and care for his dying friends and lovers while facing indifference and hostility from the gay community and public officials
Jeff Parsons plays Ned Weeks. Other members of the cast are Howell Mayer, Ryan Hicks, John L'Ecuyer, Peter Vaikornas,Jodi Reiss, Ronnie Carney, Joplin James Sell, Colby Trembley.

Founded in 1919, the Players Guild of Leonia is a non-profit, resident acting company at the Civil War Drill Hall Theater (built in 1859). They are New Jersey's oldest continuing community theater group (since 1919), and located just five minutes from the George Washington Bridge and a short bus ride from Manhattan. Their historic Civil War Drill Hall Theater is located at 130 Grand Avenue in Leonia, surrounded by the towns of Englewood, Fort Lee, Palisades Park and Teaneck, New Jersey.
