Get Involved in the Action

During the summer of 1780, General Washington and his troops made Dey Mansion their headquarters while awaiting the arrival of the French Army. Now, you can witness what life was like for soldiers, camp followers, and officers as history comes to life before your eyes.

* Meet the Troops: Watch soldiers from 2nd New Jersey, Spencer’s Artillery, and Living History Co.—portraying the 1st Rhode Island Regiment—as they march, drill, and prepare for battle.

* Explore 18th-Century Life: Observe reenactors cleaning muskets, cooking over open fires, and strategizing for the next move in the war.

Passaic County Commissioner John Bartlett encourages residents to take part in this one-of-a-kind experience: "Dey Mansion offers an incredible opportunity to connect with our nation's past in a way that is both educational and engaging. This encampment brings history to life, allowing visitors of all ages to step into the world of the Revolutionary War. As we prepare for America’s 250th anniversary, events like this remind us of the sacrifices made for our freedom and the rich legacy we have right here in Passaic County."

Admission & Location:
