(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- On Saturday, February 22, 2025, New Jersey Ballet will present Masterworks in Motion at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC), with two performances at 2:00pm & 7:30pm. The compelling program features four iconic works by three celebrated choreographers: George Balanchine's Concerto Barocco and Tarantella, Jerome Robbins' In the Night and Peter Martins' Hallelujah Junction.
“This program highlights the beauty, innovation and versatility of ballet,” says Artistic Director Maria Kowroski. “From Balanchine’s neoclassical precision to Robbins' emotional depth and Martins’ contemporary energy, these works showcase the full range of the art form. It is an honor for our dancers to share these masterpieces with audiences.”
Kowroski, a former principal dancer with New York City Ballet, brings unique insight and expertise to this production, having performed extensively in works by these renowned choreographers.
Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco, set to Bach’s Double Violin Concerto in D Minor, exemplifies his ability to pair intricate choreography with musical precision. Tarantella, bursting with playful energy and virtuosic footwork, adds a vibrant contrast. Robbins’ In the Night, set to Chopin’s hauntingly beautiful nocturnes, features live piano accompaniment by Barry Spatz and explores the complexities of romantic relationships, while Martins’ Hallelujah Junction featuring a dynamic score by John Adams, celebrates athleticism and technical brilliance.
