originally published: 12/11/2024

(RIVER EDGE, NJ) -- The Adelphi Orchestra announced the opening of applications for its 2025 Young Artist Competition. Open to talented musicians of any nationality up to the age of 23, the competition invites participants in four categories: Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, and Piano. Divided into three divisions—Junior (14 and under), Senior (ages 15-18), and College (ages 18-23)—this prestigious event provides a platform for emerging young artists to showcase their musical artistry.

The Grand Prize Winner will earn the opportunity to perform with the Adelphi Orchestra during its 2025-26 season. Finalists will also be invited to perform at the National Opera Center’s Scorca Recital Hall in New York City on April 26, 2025. Prizes will be awarded in each division.

The deadline for video round submissions is February 1, 2025. For more information and to apply, click here.

Distinguished Alumni: The competition has a proud legacy of fostering young talent, with previous grand prize winners including esteemed musicians such as Matthew Hakkarainen, Esther Youjeong Yang, Randall Goosby, Nathan Meltzer, Bryan Cheng, Anton Rist  and many others. Many laureates have gone on to achieve successful solo careers and perform with major orchestras around the world.

The Adelphi Orchestra, a professional, non-profit ensemble, is celebrated for its symphonic, chamber, operatic, choral, and dance performances. For over 20 years, the orchestra has supported young talent through its Young Artist Competition and Concerts, offering performance opportunities to rising stars throughout New Jersey and the greater New York metropolitan area. The orchestra regularly features accomplished guest soloists and has been a finalist in the Jersey Arts People’s Choice Award for Favorite Orchestra/Symphony Division for six consecutive years. The Adelphi Orchestra is a proud member of Opera America and the League of American Orchestras and is recognized as one of northern New Jersey's longest continuously performing orchestras and an integral part of the state's cultural community.
