Experience the Magic of Dance in an Enchanting "Winter Wonderland" at Bell Theater

originally published: 12/04/2024

(HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Take the family on a magical journey through a Winter Wonderland at Bell Theater at Bell Works on December 14-15, 2024. Professional guest artists join their academy student performers in this new musical as they dance and sing through holiday classics, including selections from animated TV favorites that evoke memories of Charlie Brown, Rudolph, the Little Drummer Boy and that Grinch that you love to hate.

New York City-based choreographer Michelle Thompson brings Duke Ellington’s The Nutcracker Suite to life through the breathtaking movements of professional dancers. Experience the choreographic interpretation of Raymond Briggs’ award-winning illustrated children’s book, The Snowman, with a celebrated score by Howard Blake, choreographed by Olivia Miranda, a founding member of Axelrod Contemporary Ballet Theatre. Their student dancers and professionals beautifully give life to the book’s timeless illustrations and are accompanied vocally by our youth choir, led by Academy Director Mary-Kate Schmidt. Audiences of all ages will love the journey through this enchanting winter wonderland, which includes caroling by APAA’s musical theater students.

Finally, all of the artists come together, including their youngest primary dancers, for a wondrous journey to find the real meaning of Christmas, choreographed by APAA Director of Dance Jessica Totaro, a versatile dance artist and educator specializing in contemporary, choreography and hip-hop.

Winter Wonderland is a unique celebration of both holiday nostalgia and innovation, bringing together seasoned professionals and talented academy students to create a dance experience that resonates with all ages,” said Totaro. “Our goal is to inspire the community and build a vibrant audience that finds joy and excitement in dance, discovering something timeless yet refreshingly new.”

Don’t miss this perfect addition to your holiday season!  Performances are Saturday, December 14 at 2:pm & 7:00pm, and Sunday, December 15 at 3:00pm. Tickets are $38 for adults and $20 for students. Tickets are available for purchase online. Bell Theater is located at 101 Crawfords Corner Road in Holmdel, New Jersey.
