New Jersey Symphony to present a series of holiday events across the Garden State (NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Symphony is your place to celebrate the holiday season, with many great events throughout the Garden State. Experience the magic of Christmas Disney's The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert, performed in Morristown, Red Bank, Newark and New Brunswick. Some concerts are almost sold out, but great seats remain at the two NJPAC in Newark concerts at 3:00pm & 7:30pm on December 7, 2024. Broadway Stars Will Shine in Philharmonic of Southern NJ Holiday Pops (VOORHEES, NJ) -- The Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey will be joined by John Pinto, Jr. and Jaron Barney from Broadway's "The Book of Mormon" in its annual Holiday Pops concert Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees. The orchestra will play under the baton of PSNJ Conductor Laureate Matthew Oberstein. Showtime is 3:00pm.

19th annual Teaneck International Film Festival Wrapup (TEANECK, NJ) -- The 19th annual Teaneck International Film Festival, with its forever theme of Activism: Making Change, was the biggest and best ever according to Executive Director Jeremy Lentz who emphasized that "this year, it was even more important to present films and talkbacks that would highlight critical issues and inspire interest and involvement in the preservation of human rights and democracy." Audiences obviously agreed: ticket sales were high, with several venues filled to capacity, and talkbacks included spirited question and answer periods.

Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company Awarded $40,000 by the New York State Council on the Arts (NEW YORK, NY) -- Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company announced a grant award totaling $40,000 from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to support the nonprofit arts and culture sector. Through New York State's continued investment in arts and culture, NYSCA has awarded $82 million this year to 509 artists and 1,497 organizations across the state.

State of the Arts Wins 35th Emmy Award For Story On Artist Layqa Nuna Yawar's Mural At Newark Liberty International Airport's New Terminal A State of the Arts, one of the longest-running arts programs in the nation, has won its 35th Emmy Award for the segment "Layqa", which follows Newark-based Indigenous Ecuadorian artist Layqa Nuna Yawar as he creates a colossal mural for Newark Liberty International Airport's newly redesigned Terminal A. The segment's producer, Sam Vladimirsky, won a New York Emmy Award in the "Arts/Entertainment - Short Form Content" category. The award ceremony took place on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the New York Marriot Marquis in Manhattan.
Zimmerli Art Museum has named Jeremiah William McCarthy as Chief Curator (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The Zimmerli Art Museum has named Jeremiah William McCarthy as Chief Curator. In this new role, effective January 6, 2025, McCarthy will serve on the Museum's senior leadership team and participate in shaping its mission and vision. He will oversee the Museum's curatorial department and assume responsibility for the Museum's scholarly and artistic program while managing the development of the Museum's permanent collection and exhibitions.
