The Ma'ayanot H.S. Drama Society & Black Box Studios presents "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee"

originally published: 11/26/2024

(TEANECK, NJ) -- The Ma'ayanot Yeshiva High School Drama Society, in ongoing partnership with Black Box Studios, presents The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee from December 19-22, 2024 at the Ma'ayanot Performing Arts Center. The musical has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor. An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime.

While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.  A riotous ride, complete with audience participation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a delightful den of comedic genius.

Performances take place Thursday, December 19th at 7:30pm, Saturday, December 21st at 7:30pm, and Sunday, December 22rd at 2:30pm. Tickets are available for purchase online. The Ma'ayanot Performing Arts Center is located at 1650 Palisade Avenue in Teaneck, New Jersey.

Small

'Small' Brings Big Energy to George Street Playhouse

When thinking about occupations kids say they want when they get older, a list comes to mind – doctor, superhero, firefighter, etc. But not many would find their passion at the horse racing track and say they want to become a jockey. In "Small," an autobiographical play written and performed by Robert "Bobby" Montano, the story follows Montano as he races and fulfills his dream on the horse racing tracks of Long Island, New York. It does not stop there, however. The 90-minute play is a story of love, loss and more as Montano grapples with some difficult life decisions.
