The City of Rahway Presents 'Shop Rahway, Support Local Weekend' November 29-30

(RAHWAY, NJ) -- The City of Rahway invites residents and visitors to support the community during the Shop Rahway, Support Local Weekend event on November 29-30, 2024. This exciting weekend is packed with family-friendly activities, special retail deals, festive pop-up markets, and plenty of local cheer to kick off the holiday season. The event offers the perfect opportunity to shop for unique gifts, enjoy seasonal treats, and experience the warmth of local businesses.

The holiday season begins with Rahway’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 29th at 6:00pm at City Hall Plaza. Join Mayor Raymond A. Giacobbe and Rahway City Council at 2:00pm for family activities, crafts, and entertainment leading up to the arrival of Santa’s Parade.

On November 29th and 30th support local businesses and take advantage of a variety of initiatives such as:

* Shop & Sip – Enjoy 10% off beverages at local coffee shops, juice bars, and cocktail spots with a purchase receipt from any local business made during Shop Rahway, Support Local Weekend. Participating locations include La Chula. Coffee Box, CubaNu, Juice Hub, Protein Corner, Wet Ticket Brewery, and more

Holiday Pop-Up Markets – Don’t miss two exciting pop-up markets featuring handmade crafts, art, and more. Cherry Street Mall (75 E. Cherry St.) – Saturday, November 30 from 11:00am – 4:00pm, with 18 vendors showcasing local goods. 1425 Main Street – Friday, November 29 from 2:00pm – 8:00pm, and Saturday, November 30 from 11:00am – 4:00pm. Explore 14 artisans and crafters selling everything from candles and jewelry to sustainable products and 3D toys.

* Retailer Specials – Shop local and save big! Over 14 Rahway retailers are offering exclusive deals throughout the weekend.

* In-Store Events – Experience even more holiday cheer with in-store events hosted by local businesses, including Arista Yoga & Wellness, Atelier Rosal, The Coffee Box, Cultured Expressions, Dayrin Decorations, Diamond Studio Lashes & Brows, Impressions Body Solutions, and West Carpets.



On Saturday, November 30th, Santa and Sunflower the Elf will visit local spots for holiday fun, photo ops, and candy canes:

* 12:00pm – 1:00pm: Sunflower the Elf at St. Georges Shopping Plaza (1002 St. Georges Ave.)

* 1:00pm: Santa Storytime at Atelier Rosal

* 2:00pm: Santa at the Cherry Street Mall (Arista Yoga)

* 3:00pm: Santa on Main Street (various locations)

Free Street Parking is available in Rahway from November 29th through January 2nd. On Saturday, November 30th, shoppers can enjoy additional free parking at the Parking Garage, Lot F (Broad Street), Lot H (Milton Ave).

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Cape May's Poet Laureate Sylvia Baer hosts three 1.5-hour interactive online seminars via Zoom this March that delve into American literature of the Victorian age. "The Concord Gang" on Monday, March 10, 2025 highlights Emerson, Thoreau and Alcott. "The Amherst Gang" on Monday, March 17, 2025 features Emily Dickinson and Helen Hunt Jackson.
