(LEONIA, NJ) -- The Leonia Chamber Musicians Society, Inc. have announced their 2024-2025 Season. They will present a three concert chamber music series starting with a performance in November. Concerts take place at the Presbyterian Church (181 Fort Lee Road) in Leonia, New Jersey.
Members Theresa Norris, flute; Roy Lewis and Janey Choi, violins; Maggie Speier, viola; and Daryl Goldberg, cello, will perform the first concert on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 3:00pm.
Admission is free for all concerts. A donation of $25 at the door is suggested. “Autumn Harvest” will sample international flavors. The musicians will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the noted composer Anton Bruckner with his String Quartet, perform the delightful Quintet in D Major for Flute, Violin, Two Violas, and Cello by Andreas Jakob Romberg, Danzas de Panama by the remarkable Black American composer William Grant Still, and the sweet Tango, A Midnight Mood by American composer Sandra Goldberg, for Two Violins, Viola and Cello.
The second concert of the series will take place on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 3:00pm. This “Romantic February” concert will feature French composers with a Flute, Cello and Piano Trio by Phillippe Gaubert and and a Violin, Cello and Piano Trio by Lili Boulanger. The program will also feature the glorious String Quartet in c minor Op. 51 No. 1 by Johannes Brahms and a lovely Quintet by Johann Adolf Haas for Flute and Strings. Guest artist Beth Robin, piano will perform with the members of the Society.
The final concert of the season will be on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 3:00pm. “March Winds” will explore music from the 18th century and 20th century using trumpet, woodwinds and strings. Society members Theresa Norris, flute; Roy Lewis and Janey Choi, violins; Maggie Speier, viola; and Daryl Goldberg, cello, will be joined by guest artists Kevin Cobb, trumpet, Sarah Davol, oboe, Chris Cullen, clarinet, Atsuko Sato, bassoon; Ellen DePasquale, violin, and Beth Robin, piano. This program is made possible in part by a grant administered by the Bergen County Division of Cultural & Historic Affairs from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
