Wednesday, October 16 - Nobuntu, Acclaimed Zimbabwean A Cappella Group, to Perform at Grunin Center on October 16th. (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts at Ocean County College presents Nobuntu, the internationally acclaimed all-female a cappella quartet from Zimbabwe, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 7:00pm.

Thursday, October 17 - State Theatre New Jersey presents Classical Season Celebration featuring Enriqueta Somarriba on October 17th. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey celebrates the power of classical performance with the annual Classical Season Celebration on Thursday, October 17, 2024. This year's event will take place in STNJ's intimate Studio space and, as a first for State Theatre, will be a performance entirely by candlelight. Acclaimed pianist Enriqueta Somarriba will perform a 45-minute program of classical favorites woven together with beloved pieces by Spanish composers.

Thursday, October 17 - John Scofield Trio to Mix Jazz-Rock and Original Compositions at the Newton Theatre. In October 2023, guitarist John Scofield released an album on the ECM label called Uncle John's Band. The two-CD recording mixed the Grateful Dead title track, Bob Dylan's "Tambourine Man", Neil Young's "Old Man", the Miles Davis/Bud Powell jazz standard "Budo", and "Somewhere", written by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim for West Side Story, with several Scofield originals.

BlowUpRadio.com's 2024 Banding Together Webathon For The Spondylitis Association Of America Celebrates 17 Years Of Annual Benefit This October. (SOUTH AMBOY, NJ) -- New Jersey internet radio station BlowUpRadio.com - Where NJ Rock Lives, announces its 17th annual Banding Together Webathon to benefit the Spondylitis Association Of America. Taking place Friday, October 18 through Sunday, October 20, 2024 on their internet radio station, over 30 acts from New Jersey and all over the globe will perform half hour performances, as they raise money to fund research and provide the programs and services to help the community suffering from this debilitating disease.

Friday, October 18 - Special Musical Performance by Jim Haynes with Film Projections at the New Jersey Film Festival. The New Jersey Film Festival has started a new concert series with a moving image component as part of their programming with the hope of reawakening the mostly dormant New Brunswick Music Scene. Last September 15th guitar virtuoso Tim Motzer performed to an experimental film.  That was the first true audio-visual concert they put on. Acclaimed singer-songwriter Marissa Nadler also did an amazing concert with her own movie projections on June 15. Noise-Ambient musician Jim Haynes will be coming from California to do a show on October 18. This performance will include accompanying projections of experimental films by Marjorie Conrad, Anita Labelle and Albert Gabriel Nigrin. Festival Director Al Nigrin said: “We are inviting musicians whose work I really admire and whose work I think is also very cinematic.” 

Saturday, October 19 - Steve Forbert to Kick off Split Level Concerts Series in Ocean Grove. (OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- Legendary singer-songwriter Steve Forbert will kick off an exciting new series of concerts at the Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 8:00pm. Pamela Flores, a favorite of the local Asbury Park music scene, will open the show. The show marks the relaunch of Split Level Concerts, a popular series previously based in Union County that recently relocated to the Jersey Shore. The series showcases critically acclaimed singer-songwriters in a uniquely intimate setting.

Saturday, October 19 - An Interview with James Dalton about "Harmonica Lesson – The Show". (BARNEGAT, NJ) -- Over the summer, New Jersey musician James Dalton debuted Harmonica Lesson – The Show in Europe. No stranger to performing around the world, James is bringing his new show to Waterview Art & Cafe in Barnegat on October 19, 2024 with performances at 6:00pm & 8:00pm.

Saturday, October 19 - Makaya McCraven and SHABAKA to Unite for a Genre-Defying Jazz Experience at McCarter Theatre Center. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Prepare for a transcendent evening of music as two trailblazing forces in contemporary jazz, Makaya McCraven and Shabaka, unite for an extraordinary performance at McCarter Theatre Center on Saturday, October 19, 2024. Showtime is 7:30pm.

(TUCKERTON, NJ) -- The Lizzie Rose Music Room presents Grammy winner Mike Farris on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 7:30pm. Farris is an artist's artist, a musician's musician, celebrated and revered by his fellow performers. It's no wonder. Wednesday, October 16 - The Scottish Rite Auditorium presents Billy Bragg. (COLLINGSWOOD, NJ) -- The Scottish Rite Auditorium presents Billy Bragg on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 7:30pm. In 2023, Bragg celebrated a remarkable 40 years as Britain's favorite folk singer, songwriter and campaigner. Steven Page (formerly of Barenaked Ladies) will open the night.

Thursday, October 17 - Westminster Conservatory at Nassau continues on October 17th with music for oboe and piano. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- On Thursday, October 17, 2024, the 23rd season of Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will continue with a free recital of music for oboe and piano. The performers, Melissa Bohl, oboe, and Phyllis Alpert Lehrer, piano, are members of the teaching faculty of Westminster Conservatory. Showtime is 12:15pm.

Friday, October 18 - The Newton Theatre presents Zebra. (NEWTON, NJ) -- The Newton Theatre presents Zebra on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 8:00pm. In celebration of 40 years since its release, the band will perform their 1983 debut self-titled album in its entirety and songs from all the Zebra Records – 49 Years as a band and still going strong!

Friday, October 18 - Billy Walton Band returns to the Wonder Bar on October 18th. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Billy Walton Band, one of the Tri-State area's busiest, most popular groups, perform a special showcase of their original music at Asbury Park's iconic Wonder Bar on Friday, October 18, 2024. Friday, October 18 - The Princeton Folk Music Society presents Beppe Gambetta on October 18th. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Princeton Folk Music Society presents a fusion of American and Italian folk music traditions with Beppe Gambetta on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Christ Congregation Church in Princeton. Showtime is 8:00pm. The concert is available in-person and as a livestream on their YouTube channel.

Saturday, October 19 - NJPAC presents represent! social Justice through spoken word on October 19th. (NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center presents Social Justice through spoken word with some of the most influential Hip Hop artists. It's going to be one special night in Newark with Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, MC Lyte, Dupré Doitall Kelly, DJ Spinna, Caridad De La Luz (La Bruja), Mahogany L. Browne, and Tyehimba Jess as they all take to the state on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 8:00pm.

Saturday, October 19 - Broadway's Rock of Ages Band Comes to Levoy Theatre on October 19th. (MILLVILLE, NJ) -- For over six years they rocked Broadway, and millions of fans, in the five-time Tony Award®-nominated musical Rock of Ages. Now, for the very first time, Broadway's Rock of Ages Band are bringing the music of the hit Broadway show to venues across the country as they reveal details for their Fall 2024 Tour. Featuring an all-star ensemble, comprising the artists from the original cast on Broadway, they will perform at the Levoy Theatre on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 8:00pm.

PSO Principal Musicians to perform Beethoven's Triple Concerto. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) concertmaster Basia Danilow and principal cellist Alistair MacRae team up with pianist Steven Beck October 19-20 for performances of Beethoven's Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Piano in C Major, Op. 56, "Triple Concerto." Conducted by Edward T. Cone Music Director Rossen Milanov, the concerts at Richardson Auditorium at Princeton University also include Michael Abels' More Seasons and Sergei Prokofiev's Symphony No. 1 in D Major, Op. 25, "Classical." The entire program provides variations on traditional musical forms, and even the usual order of orchestral concert programming.
