(PLAINFIELD, NJ) -- Get ready for a spine-tingling blend of laughs and thrills as Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center presents Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors, written by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen. This fast-paced version of Bram Stoker's classic tale will run from October 25 to November 2, 2024 at duCret Center of Art, located at 1030 Central Avenue in Plainfield, NJ.
Directed by Dragonfly’s Artistic Director, Catherine LaMoreaux, this production offers a fresh and funny take on the Dracula story. Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors follows the timid English real estate agent Jonathan Harker on a perilous journey to Transylvania, where he encounters the infamous Count Dracula. As female vampire hunter Jean Van Helsing and her team pursue the count from Transylvania to London and back again, audiences can expect plenty of scares, surprises, and laughs.
Leading the cast as the iconic Dracula is award-winning British actor Martin Challinor, whose extensive experience spans film, television, commercials, and theater. Credits include the cult TV show, “Doctor Who” and, most recently, the Off-Broadway production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest as the villainous Antonio. Challinor's charismatic portrayal promises to bring both menace and humor to the stage, ensuring a night of fun and fright.
Feodor Dolan of Woodbridge plays Jonathan Harker, the timid realtor. Also featured in the production are Natalia Charles of North Plainfield and Shaniah Davis of Plainfield, both recent graduates of Fairleigh Dickinson University’s BA in Acting program. They are joined by Dragonfly regulars James Houston, Jordan Brown, and Susan Roberts, who round out a talented and diverse ensemble cast.

Performances will take place on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00pm, with one Sunday matinee October 27 at 3:00pm. October 31 will have a special 8:00pm Halloween performance to which audience members are invited to come in costume. Tickets are available for purchase online. Seating is limited, so early reservations are encouraged. duCret Center of Art is located at 1030 Central Avenue in Plainfield, New Jersey.
Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center was formed in the spring of 2014 by Catherine LaMoreaux and Anna Paone. Catherine and Anna saw the need for a community theatre in the area that incorporated affirming theatre education. Anna, a recent college graduate, believed that aspiring actors and directors needed an artistic outlet beyond the crowded New York City theatre scene. Catherine had long wanted to do performances geared toward diverse audiences with diversity in casting. The two unified their years of theatre and arts administration experience along with their creative mindsets to start Dragonfly. In 2018, after performing in different locations, Dragonfly found a permanent home at duCret School of the Arts in Plainfield.
