Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater & Music Theater presents "A Thread of Golden Ashes"
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater and Music Theater at Princeton University presents A Thread of Golden Ashes, a new play by Princeton senior Le'Naya Wilkerson from October 4-6, 2024. In the play, an Earthly family and fantasy kingdom collide to explore loss, family relationships, and how our lost loved ones might stay with us in surprising ways. The production is directed by senior Wasif Sami with lighting design by Wilkerson.

 



Dunbar Repertory Company presents "And My Name Ain't Peaches" at Middletown Arts Center
 

(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- Dunbar Repertory Company at the Middletown Arts Center presents Lisa McCree's And My Name Ain’t Peaches, directed by Darrell Lawrence Willis, Sr., over two weekends, September 27-29 and October 4-6, 2024. Through monologues, music, poetry and dance, playwright Lisa McCree takes a 30-year snapshot of the lives of 11 women from the inner city in her provocative comedy about self-acceptance in a world of rejection.

 



Centenary Stage Company presents "The Weir" by Conor McPherson
 

(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company will open their Professional Theatre Series for 2024-2025 with a production of Conor McPherson's The Weir, from October 4–20, 2024 in their Sitnik Theatre. The Weir is set in a bar in Sligo, Ireland, where local men swap spooky stories in an attempt to impress a young woman from Dublin who recently moved into a nearby "haunted" house, and then she spins a yarn of her own.

 



Bordentown Regional High School presents "The Witch's Princess"
 

(BORDENTOWN, NJ) -- The comedic adventure The Witch's Princess by Don Zolidis will be presented October 25th-26, 2024 at the Bordentown Performing Arts Center. This play will be performed by the award-winning theatre students of Bordentown Regional High School. Showtime is 7:30pm each night.

Magnolia Productions presents "Night Watch" by Lucille Fletcher
 

(ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- Magnolia Productions, a new Monmouth County theater group, is launching their first full season. After the debut production of David Auburn's Proof last June, for which the company received three New Jersey Association of Community Theater Perry Award nominations, they are back with a full season's offering.

West Orange Moves Closer to Establishing Film Studio Project
 

(WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Following a recent landmark decision to grant approval for establishing a cutting-edge film studio in West Orange, NJ, West Orange Township Council has approved Matrix Development Group's purchase of a 12-acre tract of land, flagged for redevelopment, that will be the home to the proposed film studio, along with a new corridor connecting the film studio to the Downtown.

In the early 1970s, Father Michael Doyle arrived in Camden, New Jersey, a city plagued by poverty and violence. Over the next five decades, this humble Catholic priest transformed the community through his deep commitment to social justice, compassion, and advocacy. His remarkable journey is captured in the award-winning documentary "The Heart of Camden – The Story of Father Michael Doyle," which I had the privilege of producing and directing. The film, narrated pro bono by the legendary Martin Sheen, has resonated deeply with audiences across the globe, with Sheen himself calling Father Doyle "The Mighty Saint of Camden."

 



League of Women Voters of Northern Valley Provides Nonpartisan Voter Education Toolkit, VOTE411, for Artists Ahead of General Election
 

The League of Women Voters of Northern Valley (LWVNV) wants artists and arts organizations to be informed and participate in New Jersey's General Election on November 5, 2024. The League is working to ensure voters find accurate, nonpartisan election information on the voting resource site, VOTE411.org. To prepare voters in Bergen County with the tools they need to do for the General Election, the LWVNV developed 'Make a Voting Plan'.
