(CHICAGO, IL) -- Award-winning singer/songwriter Michael McDermott is releasing the first and only single off of his two-album combination release on September 13. The song, "Berlin At Night," from the album East Jesus, is an anthem-like rocker that speaks directly to the war that rages inside and how love is the fortress that shields us from harm.
“'Berlin At Night' is a song that was started in Berlin," says McDermott. "I find the city fascinating. The architecture, the history, the trauma, the determination, the beauty and the mystery of it all is fused and alive on the streets. I thought it reminded me of how love can be beautiful and mystifying. How it can carry its trauma and healing in equal measure, and how it can be both beautiful and terrifying."
"Berlin At Night" was recorded and mixed at Transient Sound in Chicago and Pauper Sky Studio in Orland Park, Illinois; and produced and mixed by McDermott and Steven Gillis. This track along with the rest on the album emerged from a decade anniversary test of sobriety where McDermott realized that all recovering addicts and alcoholics keep sharpening their lifesaving weapons.
McDermott begins a series of concert performances in early September to promote Lighthouse on the Shore and East Jesus, as well as 2022’s powerful St. Paul’s Boulevard and a recording history that spans more than 30 years.
