Macheis Wind to have Free Family Concert at Bex Cafe on August 17th

originally published: 08/06/2024

(CALIFON, NJ) -- Join award-winning musician, Macheis Wind, the "Children's Musical Hero" for a Fun Family Concert, in partnership with Chef Becky Geisel, on the lawn at Bex Cafe. Gather on Saturday afternoon, August 17, 2024 at 1:00pm for a family concert at Bex, a free community building event.

It's time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of Doughey The Pancake Man, an album beloved by generations of children! This exciting concert will feature songs from Macheis’ children’s recordings with lots of foot stomping, and hand-clapping family fun!

The Cafe at Bex will be open for refreshments including, of course, pancakes! Here's what people have to say about the album, ”Inspirational!” - Parent Guide Magazine, “Wise and wonderful!” Children’s Museum of New York.

One morning, award-winning Musician/Child Advocate Macheis Wind was making pancakes for his children for breakfast. When the kids begged for a story, he spun an infectious, musical tale of adventure about a swashbuckling pancake who comes alive, leaping joyously out of the frying pan. Little did he know at the time that this song would change his life and impact and uplift the lives of countless thousands of children and families. This wonderfully unique character had a life and determination of his own that couldn’t be held back. Macheis’ first album of songs for children, Doughey The Pancake Man took off like a rocket and he found himself touring across the country and performing on television and radio in his new guise as “The Children’s Musical Hero”.

The impact that Macheis’ energy, compassion and wisdom had on young audiences was so powerful that he was increasingly asked by educators and social workers to visit venues where the need for emotional healing, empowerment, and violence prevention was most urgent: domestic violence safe houses, homeless shelters, orphanages, hospitals and many other sensitive and volatile settings off the main roads most of us travel on. The Doughey songs always went with him. Generations of children from all walks of life and circumstances have embraced Macheis Wind’s music and have been enriched by its gifts in profound ways that cannot be measured.
