Saturday, August 10 - 5th Annual New Brunswick HEART Festival. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey, New Brunswick Cultural Center, New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC), and I Am D.Muse present the 5th Annual New Brunswick HEART Festival on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 2:00pm-6:00pm; hosted by New Jersey Radio Hall of Famer Bert Baron and Founder of TSO Productions, Sharon Gordon. This free family-friendly festival celebrates the vibrant arts and history of New Brunswick and Middlesex County, featuring live music and dance performances; free dance classes for kids; food, craft, and art vendors; arts and crafts for kids; free face painting, Henna, caricatures, and balloon animals; and more. Saturday, August 10 - SiriusXM's Seth Rudetsky hosts Broadway Concert with Mandy Gonzalez at Bell Theater in Holmdel. (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- SiriusXM radio host Seth Rudetsky is bringing Seth's Big Fat Broadway LIVE! concert series to Bell Theater in Holmdel on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Rudetsky's first guest is Broadway's Mandy Gonzalez (Wicked, Hamilton, In the Heights). This up-close and personal concert series is a mix of the greatest hits from the star's Broadway career plus intimate, behind-the-scenes stories from their Broadway career along with Rudetsky's funny, insightful and revealing questions. Showtimes is 8:00pm.

Wednesday, August 7 - Creed, 3 Doors Down, and Finger Eleven to play shows in Holmdel and Atlantic City. (ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- CREED, the multi-platinum, GRAMMY® and American Music Award-winning rock band, has announced Summer of ‘99 Tour dates for 2024. Produced by Live Nation, the 40-city tour comes to the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 and the Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in Atlantic City on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Both shows include supporting acts 3 Doors Down and Finger Eleven.

Wednesday, August 7 - Scottish Rite Auditorium presents Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band. (COLLINGSWOOD, NJ) -- The Scottish Rite Auditorium presents Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. The five-time-Grammy-nominated guitarist is renowned for ushering American roots into the contemporary era. Doors are at 6:30pm, showtime is 7:30pm.

Friday, August 9 - Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, Ciara, and Timbaland to Perform at Prudential Center. (NEWARK, NJ) -- Missy Elliott's history-making debut headline tour, OUT OF THIS WORLD — The Missy Elliott Experience brings the pioneer of female Hip Hop/R&B to arenas across North America this summer with Hip Hop legend Busta Rhymes, Multi-Platinum selling superstar Ciara, and mega producer Timbaland. Locally, the tour comes to the Prudential Center in Newark on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Friday, August 9 - Sieminski Theater presents Summer Cabaret Series in August. (BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- The very best in Broadway, jazz and rock in three very unique cabaret-style shows will debut this August in Somerset County at the Sieminski Theater. Saturday, August 10 - The Newton Theatre presents Al Stewart & The Empty Pockets. (NEWTON, NJ) -- The Newton Theatre presents Al Stewart & The Empty Pockets on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 8:00pm. The Scottish-born singer-songwriter has released nearly 20 introspective and lyrically powerful records. His biggest platinum successes, “Year Of The Cat” and “Time Passages”, were released in 1976 and 1978 respectively.

Saturday, August 10 - Seaside Heights presents Melvin Seals & JGB, Tom Hamilton, and Waiting On Mongo. (SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ) -- Melvin Seals & JGB, Tom Hamilton and Waiting On Mongo will perform on the Seaside Heights Beach Stage Saturday, August 10, 2024. Doors are at 6:00pm, showtime is 7:00pm.

THEATRE

Scott Ehrenpreis Shares His Inspiring Mental Health Journey in solo show, "Clowns Like Me". (NEW YORK, NY) -- Mental illness is no laughing matter, but in the new solo show Clowns Like Me, audience members are encouraged to laugh, cry and enjoy the ride into the unknown. Clowns Like Me will have its New York Off-Broadway Premiere at the DR2 Theatre this summer. The witty, timely, and inspiring story is based on Sarasota actor and storyteller Scott Ehrenpreis’ true life struggles with mental illness and its stigmas. The play was written by Jason Cannon, who also directs. Previews begin on June 21, for a limited engagement through August 18, 2024.

Centenary Stage Company's Summer Musical Series Includes 'Grease' and 'I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change'. (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- This summer, Centenary Stage Company presents the 2024 summer musical series featuring Grease and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. Performances for Grease will run July 11–21 and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change will run August 1-11 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center of the Centenary University campus in Hackettstown.

Summer Heats Up at Cape May Stage with the New Jersey Professional Premiere of "Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson – Apt. 2B". (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Cape May Stage presents the New Jersey professional premiere of Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson – Apt. 2B, a fast-paced, comedic, and modern reimagining of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous sleuth and sidekick. Written by award-winning playwright Kate Hamill, this lively production is set to open on July 17th and runs through August 25, 2024, with shows Tuesday through Sunday nights at 8:00pm.

Dover Little Theatre presents "Pterodactyls". (DOVER, NJ) -- Dover Little Theatre presents "Pterodactyls" by Nicky Silver across three weekends from July 26 to August 10, 2024. This is an absurdist black comedy about the demise of the Duncan family, and, by extension, the species.

Music Mountain Theatre presents "The King and I". (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre (MMT) presents a four-weekend run of The King and I from July 26 – August 18, 2024. This is the classic musical from the team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. It is the tenth mainstage show of MMT's 2024 season.

East Lynne Theater Company presents "Dial M for Murder". (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- East Lynne Theater Company in Cape May will produce an updated version of "Dial M for Murder" by Jeffrey Hatcher for five weeks this summer. Performances take place Wednesdays through Saturdays from July 31 to August 31, 2024 at 7:00pm.

Bergen County Players to Hold Auditions for "The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical". (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players (BCP) is pleased to Bring on the Monsters! at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell with open auditions for The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical (Theatre for Young Audiences Edition) on August 1st, 3rd, 6th and 8th, 2024. There are numerous opportunities for actors to shine in multiple roles in this 75-minute family-friendly rock musical.

CAT presents tales from Kate Chopin, Will Rogers, O. Henry, and Harlem. (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- A husband questions the ancestry of his wife, ghostly happenings, Will Rogers' timeless wit, O. Henry's famous twists at the end, and Harlem in the 1920’s. These are some of the upcoming tales to be told by Classic American Tales' (CAT) "Tales at the Dormer House."

NJ Rep to Hold Auditions for 2025 Season. (LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- New Jersey Repertory Company will hold auditions for their 2025 season on Monday, August 5 and Tuesday, August 6 for the 2025 season by appointment only. No walk-ins please. Auditions will be held at New Jersey Repertory Company’s West End Arts Center (132 West End Avenue) in Long Branch, NJ. Free parking and entrance to the building is in the parking lot off of Sairs Avenue.

Original Stories of Somers Point's Own Richard Somers and Legendary Figure Molly Pitcher to Come to Life at Studio;Space. (SOMERS POINT, NJ) -- SPQR Stage Company, the Jersey Shore's "Original" theater company, will present a combined performance of two one-acts, "Molly Pitcher—Revolutionary Girl Power" and the world premiere of "Richard Somers—Anatomy of a Hero," both written and directed by Bill Sterritt, SPQR's artistic director. Performances will take place August 5-7, 2024 at Studio;Space in Somers Point. Showtime is 8:00pm each night.

Voorhees Theatre Company presents "Legally Blonde, The Musical". (VOORHEES, NJ) -- Voorhees Theatre Company presents Legally Blonde, The Musical from August 8-10, 2024. A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical, follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances- this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal!

Light Opera of New Jersey presents "Seussical". (WAYNE, NJ) -- Light Opera of New Jersey presents Seussical from August 9-11, 2024 at Rosen Performing Arts Center YMCA, in Wayne. Seussical is a fantastical magical, musical extravaganza! Step into the world of Dr. Seuss with LONJ's professionally staged production. This beloved show brings to life all your favorite characters from the iconic books, including the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, and Gertrude McFuzz.

Pleasant Valley Productions presents "The H Word". (WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Pleasant Valley Productions presents a workshop of The H Word by Kerry Jules on Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center. This is a play where the audience is placed directly in the center of what is known as the "final seven minutes" of brain activity, prior to death. Where life and death intersect and one is left with nothing but themselves, their experiences and their truth.

The Artist Collective Troupe presents "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" this weekend. (POINT PLEASANT, NJ) -- The Artist Collective Troupe will present their summer musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Woman's Club of Point Pleasant. Join an eclectic group of pre-teens as they vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime!

Lyceum Studio presents World Premiere of "Wanishi: A Tale of Burlington Island" on Friday. (BURLINGTON, NJ) -- Lyceum Studio at Lyceum Hall Center for the Arts presents the World Premiere of Wanishi: A Tale of Burlington Island on Friday, August 9, 2024 with performances at 3:00pm & 7:00pm. This is a play by Brie Knight, directed by Melody Marshall, and produced by Christine Petrini and Barbara Fisher. It is performed by Summer Play Campers.

Middletown Arts Center to Hold Auditions for "Into The Woods". (MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The MAC Players at the Middletown Arts Center will hold auditions for Into the Woods on Monday, August 12, 2024, from 5:00pm-10:00pm. James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece… and a rare modern classic.

Thursday, August 8 - Black Box Studios and Debonair Music Hall present 'The Laugh Pack' featuring a comedian, a tenor, a magician, and a ventriloquist. (TEANECK, NJ) -- Black Box Studios and Debonair Music Hall present 'The Laugh Pack' featuring comedian Mark Riccadonna, tenor Justin Gonzalez, magician Denny Corby, and ventriloquist John "Gemini" Lombardi on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Debonair Music Hall. Sunday, August 11 - "Garland Jeffreys: The King of In Between" to Screen on LBI. (LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ) -- Garland Jeffreys, the mixed-race Brooklyn native whose music and social activism have defied industry norms, receives long-overdue recognition in this enlightening documentary, "The King of In Between." Lighthouse International Film Society presents a screening of the film on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Celebrate Cinematic Camp at The ShowRoom's "Summer Camp" Film Series!. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- ATTENTION CAMPERS! The ShowRoom Cinema has announced its "Summer Camp" film series, a celebration of some of the campiest and kitchiest films of all time. Join them for three nights of over-the-top performances, outrageous plots, and unforgettable moments. The lineup includes screenings of Supergirl, Death Becomes Her, and Can't Stop the Music.

Saturday, August 10 - Newark Reimagining Safety Festival: A Day of Insight, Art and Community Dialogue. (NEWARK, NJ) -- The Newark Reimagining Safety Festival will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Express Newark. This transformative event will bring together public safety advocates, community organizers, artists, and more to highlight and discuss alternative approaches to safety and justice in our communities. This event will feature the award winning documentary film Reimagining Safety by Matthew Solomon, which explores the ways in which traditional approaches to policing and incarceration create more harm than good, why the system persists, and what changes can be made to make everyone safe. The event takes place from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.

Monday, August 12 - Meet WEAR's Rescued Reptiles at the Ocean County Library Lakewood Branch. (LAKEWOOD TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- Rescue animals come in all types, shapes and sizes, and they can thrive in good homes. Teens, meet members of Wild Exotics Animal Refuge, learn about their mission and see some rescued snakes and lizards at the Ocean County Library Lakewood Branch on Monday, August 12, 2024. Dan Aubrey to give a talk on Joseph Bonaparte at Trenton City Museum

(TRENTON, NJ) -- The life and loves of noted area 19th century beauty Annette Savage will be the topic of a talk Saturday, February 9, 2025 at Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie. Titled "Le Jeu de l'Amour," the program, led by journalist and writer Dan Aubrey, will explore how Napoleon’s brother and former King of Spain, Joseph Bonaparte, and his American mistress, Annette Savage, found passion and pain in the Trenton and Bordentown region of New Jersey. The event runs from from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

Monmouth County Park System to Hold Annual E. Murray Todd Half Marathon on March 9th

(LINCROFT, NJ) -- The Monmouth County Park System will hold its annual E. Murray Todd Half Marathon on Sunday, March 9, 2025. This 13.1-mile race takes runners through Lincroft, Holmdel and Colts Neck.

Exploring American Literature of the 1800s with Cape May Poet Laureate Sylvia Baer

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Cape May's Poet Laureate Sylvia Baer hosts three 1.5-hour interactive online seminars via Zoom this March that delve into American literature of the Victorian age. "The Concord Gang" on Monday, March 10, 2025 highlights Emerson, Thoreau and Alcott. "The Amherst Gang" on Monday, March 17, 2025 features Emily Dickinson and Helen Hunt Jackson. "The Fear Gang" on Monday, March 24, 2025 delves into Hawthorne, Poe and Melville.

Steampunk Alchemy Fest presents the Clockwork Cupid Burlesque Cabaret

(NEW HOPE, PA) -- Steampunk is coming to New Hope and taking over Dharma Bums Bar with the Clockwork Cupid Burlesque Cabaret presented by Steampunk Alchemy Fest on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 8:00pm to 11:00pm. The event features Music by A Halo Called Fred; Burlesque by Holly Ween, Esmerelda May, and Jaeda; Sideshow by Lady Gypsy Professional Monstrosity; and Comedy by John Minus.
