Brookdale to launch Achieve Academy for Adults with Autism on Monday

originally published: 07/14/2024

(WALL, NJ) -- Thomas A. Arnone, Director of the Monmouth County Commissioners, and Dr. David Stout, President of Brookdale Community College, will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for  the official launch of the Achieve Academy for Adults with Autism on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 9:30am at Brookdale Community College Wall Campus, located at 800 Monmouth Blvd, in Wall Township, NJ.

The Achieve Academy addresses the critical gap in services and educational opportunities for adults with Autism once they attain 21 years of age and public-school services end. Parents often navigate a confusing maze of options in search of services for their adult children. It can be particularly challenging and costly for families to find high-quality continuing education programs and securing essential services, such as speech, occupational, physical, and behavioral therapies. The Achieve Academy aims to alleviate these burdens by providing comprehensive support and resources to help adults with Autism thrive in their communities. Through employer partnerships, job coaching, specialized training programs, and life-skills training, the Achieve Academy will also assist clients in developing the skills to work and live independently or with the support of an aide.

Director Arnone expressed his excitement about the launch of the Achieve Academy, stating, "The opening of the Achieve Academy represents a significant milestone in our commitment to supporting individuals with Autism and their families. This program will provide essential services and opportunities, helping adults with Autism lead fulfilling, independent lives."

The Achieve Academy for Adults with Autism is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is supported through the fundraising efforts of the Achieve Academy Board of Directors, led by Chairman Gary Goldfarb, Vice Chairman Thomas A. Arnone, Shaun Golden, and Dr. Tara Beams.  Brookdale Community College provides access to the Wall Campus East Building where the Academy will operate and employs the Academy Director, Linda Jordan.
