(WAYNE, NJ) -- The Shea Center for the Performing Arts presents Brian Lynch and Spheres of Influence on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 7:30pm. The esteemed trumpeter Brian Lynch and his high-powered Latin jazz ensemble Spheres of Influence are sure to light up the stage with their fiery playing.
One of the most accomplished jazz trumpeters anywhere, Lynch is a veteran of stints with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, the Horace Silver Quintet, Eddie Palmieri, and Phil Woods, and has collaborated with jazz artists such as Benny Golson, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Charles McPherson, Latin music icons Hector LaVoe and Lila Downs, and pop luminaries such as Prince.
He was voted Trumpeter of The Year by the Jazz Journalists Association in 2017, and garnered a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album in 2006. Professor Lynch teaches at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami and has been the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Chamber Music America, and Meet The Composer. His group, Spheres Of Influence, mixes Black American, Afro-Caribbean, and other musical traditions in original works and arrangements by Lynch. Bring the fire extinguishers for this one!
