The public is cordially invited to the Opening Night Celebration on Saturday, June 29, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. This event provides the first opportunity to view the remarkable collection and meet the artists behind the works. New Hope Arts members have a special preview hour from 5:00pm – 6:00pm. New Hope Arts additionally announces a Community Engagement Series, presenting six interactive lectures and workshops by participating artists to complement the exhibition. These lectures will provide insights into the creative processes, special techniques, materials, and inspirations behind the exhibited works. They will offer a deeper understanding and appreciation of the art and the artists themselves.
Presenting artist highlights include:
* Nelly Kouzmina: “Fall in Love with Felt” is an educational presentation that provides a short history of felt making, the process, and how felt fits into contemporary life with wearables, accessories, and interiors. Kouzmina will also demonstrate.
* Susan Martin-Maffei: “Weaving Narratives of Time and Place,” which explores the creative process of tapestry making, influenced by the environment, history, culture, narratives, and decades of consciousness. This lecture includes projected images and a Q&A session, revealing more than pictures in textiles and telling stories through the tactile nature of cloth.
* Michael Ross: “Contemporary Quilts and Fabric Constructions,” to be followed by a Q&A session for the audience.
