The Lord Stirling Theater Company presents "The Wisdom of Eve" - a tale of ambition, jealousy, and fame in New York's theater world
 

(BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- The Lord Stirling Theater Company will present The Wisdom of Eve in the English Barn Theater at the Farmstead Arts Center across two weekends (June 7-9 and June 14-15, 2024). This is a tale of ambition, jealousy, and fame in New York's theater world.

 



The Theater Project presents Kaleidoscope Kabaret, an Annual Festival of Songs and Short Plays
 

(WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- From June 28-30, 2024, The Theater Project presents Kaleidoscope Kabaret, its annual showcase of new work, at Luna Stage. Audiences are invited to see a variety of short plays by members of the company's Playwrights Workshop whose work has been performed in Canada, Great Britain, New York and around the US. This year's event also includes two plays by high school/college playwrights, past honorees of The Theater Project's annual Young Playwrights Competition. The Kabaret includes music performed by guest musicians, including Sandra Toll and David Tillestrand.

 



Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey kicks off Outdoor Stage season with the comedy 'As You Like It'
 

(MADISON, NJ) -- Romance and laughter abound in Shakespeare's delightful comedy As You Like It, which kicks off the summer season at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. The beloved play, one of the most popular in Shakespeare's canon, will be presented on the Outdoor Stage at St. Elizabeth University from June 19 - July 14, 2024.

 



'Classic Tales at the Dormer House' is presented in Cape May, June through October
 

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 20 through October 10, Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents "Classic Tales at the Dormer House." Guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories by American authors like O. Henry, Zora Neale Hurston, and Mark Twain, as well as contemporary scenes and stories that resonate through time.

Bordentown Regional High School sophomore Brynn Bowyer awarded 2024 Cappie Award for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Musical
 

(SPRINGFIELD, PA) -- At this year's annual Greater Philadelphia Cappie Award Gala, Bordentown Regional High School sophomore Brynn Bowyer was awarded the 2024 Cappie Award for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Musical for her role as Morticia in the Bordentown Regional High School production of The Addams Family. In addition, Brynn also received the 2024 Greater Philadelphia Cappies Spirit Award for Bordentown Regional High School, recognizing her leadership qualities, positive attitude, and spirit of teamwork throughout The Addams Family rehearsals and performances. The Gala, held Sunday, May 2nd at Cardinal O'Hara High School, honored high school theatre productions from the 2023-2024 season.

Steve Forbert has released a music video for "Sound Existence" from his upcoming album Daylight Savings Time, which will be released on August 16th via Blue Rose Music. The song is a portrait of someone's retirement years in a comfortable suburban American neighborhood. The video stars Cynthia Soler.

 



Make Music Day Newark to Take Place June 21st
 

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Arts Ed Newark joins a special collaboration between Newark Arts, Newark City Parks, The City of Newark, Newark Arts & Education District on Make Music Day Newark, a unique one-day event where free, live musical performances, opportunities to make music and other musical events take on the longest day of the year, June 21, 2024. Musical festivities in Newark are hosted by Make Music Day Ambassador and Newark based Artist, Daryl L. Stewart.

2nd Week of Princeton Festival includes Mozart's comic masterpiece and American Repertory Ballet performance with PSO Strings
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The second week of this year’s Princeton Festival kicks off with performances of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's comic masterpiece Così fan tutte on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 7:00pm and Sunday, June 16 at 4:00pm, with a final 7:00pm performance on Tuesday, June 18. In between, on Saturday, June 15 at 7:00pm, is an evening of music and dance, Interwoven: American Repertory Ballet + PSO Strings. Both events take place in the performance pavilion on the grounds of Morven Museum & Garden.

Princeton's Second Sunday Poetry Reading to Feature Phyllis Frakt and Marie Gray Wise
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Makes, a Princeton-based artist cooperative, and Ragged Sky Press, a local publisher focused on poetry, will host a Second Sunday Poetry Reading on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 4:00pm. The readings will take place at the Princeton Makes store in the Princeton Shopping Center. The June reading will feature Phyllis Frakt and Marie Gray Wise. Their readings will be followed by an open mic available to up to 10 audience members who would like to read their original poetry.

New Book Captures The Oral History Of The Stone Pony
 

Nick Corasaniti captures the oral history of the Stone Pony and the rise, fall, and rebirth of Asbury Park in his new book, I Don't Want to Go Home - The Oral History Of The Stone Pony. The book includes interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Steve Van Zandt, Southside Johnny, members of the E Street Band and Asbury Jukes, the Ramones, the Jonas Brothers, Jack Antonoff, and other legendary musicians.
