Asbury Park Brewery Opens On Cookman Ave

originally published: 05/24/2024

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Asbury Park Brewery, a brewery that brings craft beer and music together, announces the opening of its new location. The space is officially open to the public starting Friday, May 24th at 4:00pm and is located at 614 Cookman Ave, Asbury Park, NJ.

The space spans 3,180 square feet and features the brewery and tasting room. It will be open 7 days per week. A total of 12 beers will be on tap and will allow growler and crowler fills, takeout can sales and merchandise. The award-winning beer selection includes a combination of year-round, seasonal and new releases. Customers will be able to enjoy live performances from musicians in the tasting room and will be able to book the location for private events. They’ll also be able to bring in food from the wide selection of restaurants in Asbury Park to enjoy with their beer. For background, Asbury Park Brewery made its debut when it opened its original location on Sewall Ave in 2016. It’s run by local musicians and beer enthusiasts who grew up playing at local venues.

“It’s been a grind the last few years trying to get this new space open,” says founder Bob McLynn. “We can't wait to welcome back our old friends who used to come to punk shows at the old space along with everyone hitting us up on social media waiting for this place to open. We have some great new beers in the tanks that will be released soon!"

The brewery partnered with local artist Porkchop on an art installation, paying homage to its music ties. The art installation is featured in the tasting room where you can find walls with collages of posters, photographs and concert tickets of famous musicians who have performed in Asbury Park.

Behind the bar, there’s a 13 ft, 6 inches tall wooden record wall filled with over 8,000 vinyl albums from a variety of musicians. There’s a glass wall separating the tasting room from the brewery, allowing customers to see the brewing process. The interior design of the brewery was inspired by Japanese listening bars, which encourages customers to enjoy the musical experience. It features natural and vintage elements like an exposed brick wall and reclaimed wood as bar tops to create a welcoming feeling.

Partnering with local artists is a priority for the brewery. They’ve partnered with local and national musicians playing in the area, including The Front Bottoms, Jack Antonoff and Panic! At The Disco on limited-edition beer releases. They’re also working on new collaborations that will be announced soon. The tasting room will feature a rotation of new offerings but will also include year-round selections such as Blonde, Sea Dragon, Easy Dragon and Dragon Juice and seasonal offerings like Watermelon Summer and Pony Pale Ale (celebrating the Stone Pony’s 50th anniversary).
