NextGen Acting Launches Summer Camp with Professional Voice Over Workshops for Kids and Teens

originally published: 05/13/2024

(NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- NextGen Acting, a leading performing arts school in central New Jersey, has announced the launch of its innovative summer camp program, a pioneering initiative in the state. Young aspiring actors in New Jersey will have the opportunity to dive into the world of voice over, guided by professionals in a state-of-the-art voice booth designed specifically for kids and teens. This camp, however, is not limited to voice over; it offers a comprehensive exploration of all acting disciplines, providing a holistic and enriching experience for its participants.

Scheduled to take place at NextGen Acting Studios in North Brunswick, the camp is set to transform the summer for kids and teens aged 7-18. The program includes a dynamic mix of acting, improv, on-camera acting, and, uniquely, voice over instruction, making it the most diverse acting camp experience in the region.

“Our mission at NextGen Acting is to empower young individuals through the performing arts, helping them to find their voice both on and off the stage,” says the founder of NextGen Acting, Dennis Connors. “We are especially excited to be the first in New Jersey to offer specialized voice over workshops and instruction within our summer camp. Our professional voice booth and equipment allow our students to learn in an environment that mirrors the professional world of acting closely.”

The camp curriculum is designed to cater to all levels of experience, from beginners to more seasoned young actors, providing an environment where everyone can learn, grow, and, most importantly, have fun. Participants will get hands-on experience with professional equipment, including a voice over booth, cameras, lights, and backdrops, preparing them for real-world acting opportunities.

In addition to skill development, the camp focuses on fostering creativity, confidence, and collaboration among its students. “Our summer camp is more than just learning about acting; it’s about building an inclusive community where young people can express themselves freely, explore different aspects of their personalities, and develop life-long skills,” the founder adds.

Small

'Small' Brings Big Energy to George Street Playhouse

When thinking about occupations kids say they want when they get older, a list comes to mind – doctor, superhero, firefighter, etc. But not many would find their passion at the horse racing track and say they want to become a jockey. In "Small," an autobiographical play written and performed by Robert "Bobby" Montano, the story follows Montano as he races and fulfills his dream on the horse racing tracks of Long Island, New York. It does not stop there, however. The 90-minute play is a story of love, loss and more as Montano grapples with some difficult life decisions.
