originally published: 04/26/2024

(HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Holmdel Theatre Company presents Tony winner and Grammy nominee Lena Hall in her new production, The Show Goes On. The performance will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 8:00pm in the Duncan Smith Theater.

The new show, co-written and directed by long-time collaborator Stephen Amato, chronicles Hall’s fascinating career highlights through the harrowing, hilarious, and often deadly mishaps that accompanied her experience on productions like Hedwig and the Angry Inch (for which she won a Tony Award), Kinky Boots, and Snowpiercer. The show promises to deliver all of Hall’s trademark songs, lots of laughter, and the heartfelt unabashed storytelling she has become known for.

Tickets are $55 and available for purchase online. All seating is general seating. Doors open approximately 30 minutes prior to show time.

Colleen Cook, Executive Director of Holmdel Theatre Company, is delighted to welcome Hall to the incredible list of talent that has performed at the theatre.

“When I created the Broadway at the Barn series nearly five years ago, I couldn’t have imagined it would expand into the incredible cabaret series it is today with some of Broadway’s best talent,” she said. “I’m excited to have Lena and her band bring a new, rock edge to the barn.”

The Broadway at the Barn series was created by Cook in June 2019 with the intention of bringing the best of Broadway to New Jersey for a night. The series kicked off with Tony Award Winner Alice Ripley. Since its inception, the series has featured performances from Broadway’s finest including Betsy Wolfe, Caissie Levy, Eden Espinosa, Jessica Vosk, Laura Bell Bundy, and more.

Hall received widespread critical acclaim for her performance of the title role in the feature film Becks (winner of the U.S. Fiction Award at the L.A. Film Festival). Hall starred as Miss Audrey in the TNT hit sci-fi drama Snowpiercer for four seasons alongside Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly and has guest starred on HBO’s Girls, Amazon Prime’s Good Girls Revolt, and Paramount Plus’ Evil.

Lena’s other solo musical revues Sin & Salvation (Cafe Carlyle), Art Of The Audition (Cafe Carlyle), and The Villa Satori: Growing up Haight Ashbury, all played sold-out shows and received rave reviews. Her solo albums and Obsessed series can be downloaded on all streaming platforms.

Holmdel Theatre Company at the Duncan Smith Theater (HTC) is a non-profit, semi-professional theatre company dedicated to presenting fresh interpretations of classic plays as well as rarely presented modern dramas and comedies.

HTC is dedicated to providing opportunities for students and non-professionals to work with professional theatre artists in a collaborative, artistic and educational exchange. Making this sophisticated informality possible is The Duncan Smith Theater. Congenial and warm, this historic, 125-year-old barn has been transformed into a modern, fully air-conditioned facility with 99 comfortably cushioned seats. The HTC performance space is a black box theatre that allows for flexibility in stage and seating arrangement to suit the specific requirements of a production. The Duncan Smith Theater gives each artist the opportunity to explore more experimental modes of performance. This intimate space allows the audience to connect with the performing artists.

Small

'Small' Brings Big Energy to George Street Playhouse

When thinking about occupations kids say they want when they get older, a list comes to mind – doctor, superhero, firefighter, etc. But not many would find their passion at the horse racing track and say they want to become a jockey. In "Small," an autobiographical play written and performed by Robert "Bobby" Montano, the story follows Montano as he races and fulfills his dream on the horse racing tracks of Long Island, New York. It does not stop there, however. The 90-minute play is a story of love, loss and more as Montano grapples with some difficult life decisions.
