originally published: 03/28/2024

(MILLVILLE, NJ) -- CU Maurice River presents a screening of SHATTERED: Portrait of a Glass Factory and Paul J. Stankard: Flower & Flame at The Levoy Theatre on Thursday, April 18, 2024 as part of the CU Social Film Series.  Doors are at 5:30pm, showtime is 6:00pm.

SHATTERED: Portrait of a Glass factory is the ArtC documentary about the history of the Glass Industry in Millville , NJ and how its demise affected that city. The film features the work of two Millville fine art photographers and the amazing photos they captured of the closed factories. It also touches on how the arts are playing a role in that city’s future as they pick up the pieces.

Paul J. Stankard: Flower & Flame, the latest documentary from award-winning filmmaker Daniel R. Collins, celebrates the life’s work of internationally acclaimed glass artist Paul J. Stankard. Inspired by his rural childhood memories, Paul evolved the centuries-old craft tradition of the glass paperweight into a fine art form, battling dyslexia and defying critics on his way to international fame. For more than 60 years, Paul has honed his skills in Southern NJ, the historic epicenter of American glassmaking. Now in his 80th year, he is still creating some of the best work of his career.

Tickets are $22 (plus fees) and available for purchase online. The Levoy Theatre is located at 126-130 N. High Street in Millville, New Jersey.

Paul J. Stankard Flower & Flame Speaker Panel with Q&A will follow the film with Paul J. Stankard, Director Daniel Collins, and Phil Surdam of Chemglass Life Sciences – Major Film Sponsor.
