(MADISON, NJ) -- This spring, Drew University students and residents in the area have the opportunity to meet and learn from Broadway performers during two student workshops and a public "talkback" following Drew's production of A Chorus Line on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
Natalie Cortez, who made her Broadway debut in the 2006 revival of A Chorus Line, recently led a workshop with students in Drew’s Theatre and Dance Department focused on her experience as a performer in that show and many others, including a sample of the demanding Chorus Line choreography.
Michael McCormick, an esteemed Broadway performer who has been on stage for more than 30 years, will come to campus later this spring together with a young dancer from the current Broadway show, A Beautiful Noise, to lead a workshop on the business of building and maintaining a career from the point of view of both a veteran character actor and an early-career professional. Participants will also be invited to try out some moves from A Beautiful Noise.
Members of the public will have the chance to meet Cortez during a talkback session following the performance of A Chorus Line on Thursday, March 28. More information is available here.
“When it comes to theater, experience is the best teacher. We’re thrilled to give students the opportunity to learn directly from Broadway performers who can share the lessons they’ve learned from performing in the most elite productions in the world,” said Chris Ceraso, professor of theatre arts. “We’re also excited to give residents of Madison and the surrounding communities unique access to Broadway talent through the talkback with Natlie Cortez later this month.”
