Tylie Shider Talks About Inspiration behind "Lift Every Voice: A Letter to the Editor" which Pushcart Players will present in Minneapolis
 

Pushcart Players, New Jersey's Emmy-nominated and award-winning touring theatre for family audiences, will present Lift Every Voice: A Letter to the Editor on February 28 and 29 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was in Minneapolis where the New Jersey playwright, Tylie Shider, found the inspiration to write this piece.

 



"Black Girl Magic" Celebrates the History and Accomplishments of Black Women Through Story and Song
 

Guided by the Ancestors, African Warrior Queens, a woman named Sister struggles to find a place of self-reconciliation and acceptance in the world as she is given a glimpse into the lives and legacy of Black women—past and present, young and old. This is the story behind "Black Girl Magic," a powerful show coming to West Windsor Township, NJ, hailing from the Underground Performing Arts Collective in Suffolk, Virginia. "Black Girl Magic" premieres at the Kelsey Theatre at Mercer Community College on Friday, March 1, 8 PM EST.

(WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- It will be something of a homecoming for Trenton native Taylor Pickett-Stokes when she takes the stage at Mercer County Community College's (MCCC) Kelsey Theatre with the Virginia-based Underground Performing Arts Collective (UPAC) and their presentation of "Black Girl Magic," March 1-3, 2024.

PSO Soundtracks Talk: A Celebration of Bulgaria with Maestro Rossen Milanov and Soprano Mariana Karpatova
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO)'s Edward T. Cone Music Director Rossen Milanov joins mezzo-soprano Mariana Karpatova in an exploration of the songs, dances, and culture of their native Bulgaria at a very special PSO Soundtracks talk: A Celebration of Bulgaria. Their presentation takes place on Thursday, March 7 at 7:00pm, at the Princeton Public Library in the library's Community Room. Immediately following, there will be time for a brief Q&A. The talk serves as a prelude to the orchestra's March 9-10 concerts which includes a work by Bulgarian composer Marin Goleminov. Soundtracks is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.

Brooklyn Paramount Reopens As Most Historic Music Venue In The City Following Multi-Million Dollar Redevelopment
 

(BROOKLYN, NY) -- On March 27, Brooklyn Paramount will kick off its grand opening season. The multi-million-dollar redesign honors the building's nearly 100-year history while creating a new 2,700 capacity music venue that will help bring more shows to Brooklyn's growing music scene.

RVCC Sets Concert Featuring Pianist Miryana Moteva, Violinist David Brubaker
 

(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- Raritan Valley Community College's Arts & Design department will present a concert featuring violinist David Brubaker and pianist Miryana Moteva, March 17, 2024 at 2:00pm. The event, part of the MOZAIKA Concert Series' current season, will be held in the Welpe Theatre at the College’s Branchburg campus. The performance will feature music by Mozart, Schubert, Migo, and Leviev.

 



Bobby Mahoney to Perform at 2024 South by Southwest Festival
 

(AUSTIN, TX) -- New Jersey rocker, Bobby Mahoney, is going to the 2024 South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival in Austin, TX. Mahoney will be playing a full band show at The Continental Club on March 16th as part of The Wicked Cool Records Review! showcase presented by Stevie Van Zandt's (E Street Band, The Sopranos, Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul) Underground Garage and Hard Rock at 8:00pm.

Garden State Film Festival Returns March 21-24
 

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) returns for its 22nd year March 21-24, 2024 with screenings in Asbury Park and Cranford, showcasing over 200 films from 14 countries in eight venues. GSFF rolls out the red carpet for a fusion of world premieres, Hollywood luminaries, and interactive industry panels.

Monmouth County Park System Accepting Entries for In Vivid Color Exhibit

New Jersey State Council on the Arts Grants Nearly $2 Million to New Jersey Artists
 

(TRENTON, NJ) -- The New Jersey State Council on the Arts held its first public meeting of 2024 on February 20th, where just over $1.7 million was awarded to 161 New Jersey artists through the Council's Individual Artist Fellowship program. In 2022, the Council voted to authorize an unprecedented investment of $2 million in the Fellowship program. Through this continued commitment of funding, this year's Fellowship cohort is the largest one the Council has added to its distinguished list of Fellows in over 30 years.

 



Blauvelt Speaker Series Presents Foreign Policy Expert Jeffrey S. Morton, Ph.D.
 

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Ocean County College Foundation's acclaimed Blauvelt Speaker Series returns with a presentation by Dr. Jeffrey S. New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs Accepting Applications for Margaret Yardley Scholarship Fund
 

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs (NJSFWC) of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), one of the leading volunteer organizations in the state, is accepting applications for its annual Margaret Yardley Fellowship Fund. Established in 1930 in memory of the first NJSFWC President Margaret Yardley, the fund provides between six and eight $1,000 grants to deserving women who are New Jersey residents pursuing post-graduate advanced studies at the school of their choice.

 



Middlesex County launches RIDE On Demand, an affordable public transit service
 

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ) -- On February 27, 2024, Middlesex County will launch RIDE On Demand, an affordable app-based public transit service to begin to address the County's transit gaps – or areas where buses and trains cannot efficiently serve. The City of New Brunswick will be the first to participate in this one-year pilot program. RIDE On Demand will provide safe, easy, and flexible transportation for $3 per rider. The new service is available Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 10:00pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00am to 6:00pm.

(LITTLE EGG HARBOR, NJ) -- Hey kids, meet and have fun with the grownups who protect us. Join the excitement of "Cops & Crayons" at the Ocean County Library Little Egg Harbor Branch on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Sit down and color with officers of the Little Egg Harbor Police Department. Then, meet an Ocean County Sheriff's K-9 team and watch how officers and their furry partners train. Sessions take place at 10:00am and 11:30am.
