NJCU and WP programs present "Working, a Musical"
 

(JERSEY CITY NJ) -- The New Jersey City University Department of Music, Dance and Theatre and WP Voice presents Working, a Musical with five performances from February 2-11, 2024 at Margaret Williams Theatre. Based on Studs Terkel's best-selling book of interviews, Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day, the Musical Working paints a vivid portrait of the workers that the world so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the delivery man, the waitress, the mason, and the stay-at-home parent, just to name a few.

 



The Summit Playhouse presents "Agnes of God"
 

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Summit Playhouse presents Agnes of God by John Pielmeier. The production runs during the weekends from February 23- through March 9, 2024, at The Summit Playhouse. Summoned to a convent, Dr. Martha Livingstone, a court-appointed psychiatrist, must assess the sanity of a novice accused of murdering her newborn.

(TUCKERTON, NJ) -- Award-winning Florida bluesman Selwyn Birchwood will perform live at the Lizzie Rose Music Room in Tuckerton on Friday, March 8, 2024. Birchwood is touring in support of Exorcist, his fourth release on Alligator Records. Showtime is 7:30pm.

The ShowRoom to take audiences back 50 Years to Watergate and Patty Hearst
 

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Shock and scandal in headlines and halls of power are time-honored American traditions. This February, The ShowRoom Cinema in downtown Asbury Park invites you back 50 years to 1974, when two such scandals rocked the nation. The movie theater will be revisiting Patty Hearst's abduction as well as President Richard Nixon's resignation in the wake of the Watergate investigation with special event screenings of two must-see films.

(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The Middletown Arts Center presents Tracey Ann Finley Art: Abstracts vs. Outsiders Exhibition, The Battle Between the Undefined and the Unconventional, from February 3-29, 2024. Tracey is a self-taught "outsider" artist who, in 2004, began offering her work for sale online via Ebay and Etsy. To date, she has sold over 4,500 original works. Her colorful paintings hang in spaces across the USA, Canada, Spain, Australia, Japan, United Kingdom, Mexico, Israel, Ireland and other countries around the world.

 



New Jersey Artist Signs UK Publishing Deal for New York City Street Photography
 

(RAMSEY, NJ) -- Xiomaro, a resident of Ramsey, NJ, known for his photography commissioned by Morristown National Historical Park, signed a contract with Fonthill Media, a leading publisher in England. Under the worldwide agreement, the artist will author a book of his New York City street photographs set to be released in 2025. Xiomaro’s book will spearhead Fonthill Media's new series "Photographers' America," and will be part of the artist’s international ramp-up to the nation's 250th anniversary celebration in 2026.

American Dream to Kick Off Black History Month with Chef Marcus Samuelsson
 

(EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ) -- American Dream has announced an exciting collaboration with globally acclaimed chef Marcus Samuelsson to honor and celebrate Black History Month throughout February. On February 2, the celebrity chef will conduct a cooking demonstration of pan-seared catfish on the Dream Stage (Court A, Level 1). This signature dish will be available on the menu at Marcus Live! (Court A, Level 3) for the first two weeks of February, followed by jambalaya for the remainder of the month.
