Paterson Performing Arts Development Council Welcomes Poet Laureate Susan Justiniano As Its Newest Playwright-In-Residence (PATERSON, NJ) -- The Paterson Performing Arts Development Council (PPADC) has announced its 2024 Playwright-In-Residence is Susan Justiniano, also better known as RescuePoetix, who is the 2022-2024 state of New Jersey Beat Poet Laureate. Her dramatic play, By the Light of the Ghetto Moon, will be the centerstage play of PPADC's Annual Hamilton Arts Festival (HAF). Now in its fourth season, the festival runs June 13–22, 2024 and features a series of events including theatrical productions and film screenings.
Grunin Center presents "Rhapsody in Black" by LeLand Gantt (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Actor LeLand Gantt will present his autobiographical one-man show, Rhapsody in Black, on the Main Stage at the Grunin Center on Thursday, February 1. Tickets are $7. Showtime is 11:00am. Written and performed by Gantt, Rhapsody in Black explores LeLand's personal journey to understand and eventually transcend racism in America.

This derogatory phrase is often used to denigrate theatre educators who have made the sacrifice to dedicate their careers to students, particularly at a time when arts-focused education is often the first to be cut in budget crises.
NJRep presents the World Premiere of "ESSPY" (LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- New Jersey Repertory Company (NJRep) will kick off its 27th season with the world premiere of Nandia Shenoy's ESSPY, directed by Peter J. Kuo, beginning February 22, with its opening night on February 24 and running through March 17, 2024. ESSPY is a comic-drama about a young medical student embarking on a journey he never expected.
