originally published: 01/24/2024

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Youth across Newark will get to come together on Sunday, January 28, 2024 for a day of education, empowerment and celebration at YBGEnterprise's "Citywide Youth Day." The event, which will be held Sunday from noon – 4:00pm at the West Side Community Park Center in Newark, is  aimed to create safe spaces for young individuals from across the city to enjoy a day of fun activities, entertainment, and an opportunity to access various youth-focused community resources.

In addition, the event will feature free food, a toy distribution by Toys for Tots, a coat distribution by Jersey Cares, comic books by Fortress of Solitude, free haircuts by Gigi the Barber Doll, Quinique Bennet, Zahtece Moore, manicures, prizes, and much more.

“Our organization's mission is to help build community morale, investment, resources and fun for the children and families of the city of Newark,” said Nyjee Coram, CEO of YBGEnterprise. “Citywide Youth Day is a monthly event that we host at various community centers and parks, providing music, food, raffles, games, performances, resources, youth programming information, and more – all at no cost. We invite everyone to come out and be a part of this incredible day.”

Partnering with YBGEnterprise for the event is United Community Corporation, a Newark-based Community Action Agency that operates with a mission of assisting low-income, disadvantaged, and at-risk individuals and families, including seniors and youth, to become self-sufficient and self-supporting while enhancing their quality of life and standard of living.

At the event, UCC officials will provide various activities for youth, including a slime station, arts and crafts, and arcade games.
