Light Opera of New Jersey names Teresa Giardina new Director of Outreach and Community Engagement; will offer free tickets to "The Barber of Seville" through its Opera for All Initiative

originally published: 01/11/2024

(BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- Light Opera of New Jersey (LONJ) has announced the appointment of Teresa Giardina as the new Director of Outreach and Community Engagement.

According to Jason Tramm, Executive Producer, “Tess is extremely qualified for this position and has extensive experience working for arts companies like the New Jersey Symphony. We are delighted to have her leading this important initiative that seeks to open the power of the arts to all.” Tess has been involved with LONJ for several seasons as a performer and volunteer and is excited to continue to build relationships with various individuals and community groups in the region.

Opera for All was established by LONJ to provide 10% of mainstage tickets at no cost to groups experiencing disadvantages in New Jersey. Now in its second year, this innovative program was originally partially funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Individuals and organizations are invited to apply for free tickets to LONJ’s next performance of The Barber of Seville at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, NJ on February 17, 2024 at 7:30pm.

This beloved opera tells the story of Count Almaviva and his attempts to win the heart of the beautiful Rosina, with the help of the cunning Figaro, the barber of Seville. This production will be performed by an internationally acclaimed cast with period sets and costumes, and the Light Opera of New Jersey Chorus and Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Jason Tramm.
