(EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Playhouse 22 presents Eleemosynary, a play by Lee Blessing, across two weekends from January 6-14, 2024. The play probes into the delicate relationship of three singular women: a strong-willed eccentric grandmother; her brilliant daughter, who has fled the stifling domination of her mother; and her granddaughter – a child of exceptional intellect.
As part of the theater's "On the Edge" black box series, Playhouse 22 has transformed their traditional stage into a new theatrical experience with the audience sitting on stage, close to the action unlike anything you have ever seen before at the theater. After the Sunday, January 7 performance, guests are invited to participate in a talkback session with the cast and director.
The show is directed by Jennifer Moffett with Faith Dowgin as Dorothea, the matriarch of the family with Jesse Principale as her daughter, Artie, and Michelle Yang as Echo.
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm. with Sunday matinees at 2:00pm. Limited general admission tickets are $18 and available for purchase at Playhouse22.org or by phone at 732-254-3939. Playhouse 22 is conveniently located at the Elliott Taubenslag Theater at the East Brunswick Community Arts Center (721 Cranbury Road) in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
