National Tour of "Hairspray" comes to MPAC
 

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Hairspray, Broadway's Tony Award®-winning musical comedy phenomenon, comes to Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) for three performances Friday, January 26 at 8:00pm; and Saturday, January 27 at 2:00pm & 8:00pm. This is the story of 16-year-old Tracy Turnblad in 1960s Baltimore as she sets out to dance her way onto TV's most popular show. Can a girl with big dreams (and even bigger hair) change the world?

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage presents Gone Missing from February 22 through March 3, 2024 at the Oakes Center in Summit. Featuring a Book by Steve Cosson and Music and Lyrics by Michael Friedman, this is a wry and whimsical documentary musical of loss devised from interviews with real-life New Yorkers by The Civilians, the acclaimed New York-based company.

 



"Senior Moments - Big Beaver" to Have World Premiere in Middletown
 

(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- From the team that brought you the award winning Off-Broadway production Camp, A New Musical; Dealing, The Musical; and Accidentally On Purpose comes their brand-new original comedy, Senior Moments - Big Beaver which has its World Premiere at the Middletown Arts Center with a limited engagement from January 26-28, 2024.

NJPAC Hosts Dance This Winter featuring Cinderella Ballet and Nai-Ni Chen Year of the Green Wood Dragon
 

(NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents a pair of dance performances in a series sponsored by M&T Bank. Performances include the State Ballet Theater of Ukraine with Cinderella on January 21st and the World Premiere of Year of the Green Wood Dragon by Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company on February 10-11, 2024.

 



McCarter Theatre presents Mark Morris Dance Group
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center presents Mark Morris Dance Group on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 8:00pm in the Matthews Theater. RVCC Holocaust Institute Slates Exhibition Focusing on Survivors of Holocaust, Other Genocides
 

(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- The Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Raritan Valley Community College will present Stories of Survival: Object. Image. Memory., on display at the College's Branchburg campus from January 10 until May 10, 2024. The exhibition, which is free of charge to visitors, showcases more than 60 oversized photographs of personal artifacts that were brought to America by survivors of the Holocaust and other genocides.

 



Pollak Gallery presents "Journeys of Interdependence: Portraits of First-Generation Identity in Higher Education"
 

(WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- Monmouth University's Pollak Gallery presents "Journeys of Interdependence: Portraits of First-Generation Identity in Higher Education" from January 16 to March 8, 2024. This juried exhibition features works that highlight the first-generation college experience through portraiture and welcomes portraits made in a variety of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, textiles, video, performance, and time-based media.

New Jersey Performing Arts High School Makes History

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Ocean County Vocational Technical School's (OCVTS) Grunin Performing Arts Academy (GPAA) is thrilled to announce that its fall drama production, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, has been selected to perform at the International Thespian Festival, the world's largest celebration of high school theatre. This prestigious event will take place at Indiana University Bloomington from June 22-27, 2025.

​​​​​​​(MADISON, NJ) -- In March 2024, vocalist/pianist Champian Fulton released an album called Flying High: Big Band Canaries Who Soared, paying tribute to female vocalists of the Big Band Era. Featuring several guest vocalists, it included such standards as "On the Sunny Side of the Street" (closely associated with Ella Fitzgerald); "I Don't Know Enough About You" (Peggy Lee); and "Sweet Georgia Brown" (Anita O'Day).

Princeton University Library to Hold Events to Celebrate 100th Anniversary of "The Great Gatsby"

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- April 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the publication of "The Great Gatsby," and Princeton University Library (PUL) is celebrating with a suite of on- and off-campus programming inspired by the library's significant Fitzgerald and "The Great Gatsby" related holdings, including the F. Scott Fitzgerald Papers, which were donated to the University by his daughter in 1950.

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater and Music Theater will present Foibles and Fables: Songs of Magic and Memory!, a concert of original and Broadway songs performed by the Princeton Playhouse Ensembles led by Solon Snider Sway and featuring guest Broadway and Grammy performers and musicians. Directed by faculty member Aaron Landsman and cosponsored by the Department of Music, the concert is on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Berlind Theatre at McCarter Theatre Center, 91 University Place on the Princeton campus. Showtime is 7:00pm.
