(HOBOKEN, NJ) -- Mile Square Theatre presents Tom Mula’s Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol with a four-week limited engagement at Mile Square Theatre from December 1-24. Directed by Jenn Haltman, this clever and dark retelling of the Dickens classic has Jacob Marley tasked with helping to redeem his old business partner’s soul and undergoes his own transformation. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

Artistic Director Kevin R. Free said, “When I was a kid, this is the kind of Holiday play I wanted to see: something traditional with a dark twist. As an adult, I performed in several versions of A Christmas Carolbut none of them looked like this!”

The production stars Sevrin Anne Mason* as Jacob Marley and Jezabel Montero* as Scrooge. Rounding out the cast are Caturah Brown, Dominic Russo, Grant Cary Peterson and Kristin (KP) Sgarro. *Performing courtesy of Actors’ Equity Association. 

The production features scenic design by Tim McMath, costume design by Kara Branch, and lighting design by Jennifer Fok. Margaret Montagna is the sound designer; Emmett Grosland is the props supervisor; and Arielle Legere* is the Production Stage Manager. 

Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol. plays the following regular schedule through Sunday, December 24:  Thursdays at 8:00pm; Fridays at 8:00pm;  Saturdays at 3:00pm & 8:00pm; and Sundays at 3:00pm. Running Time: 90 Minutes. Tickets are $30-45 and are now available online at www.MileSquareTheatre.org. Tickets may also be purchased in-person at the theater a half hour before the performance. The theatre is offering a special “Pay-What-You-Will” performance on December 1.

Tom Mula (playwright) has been an award-winning playwright, actor, and director for more than 25 years. He received 2 Joseph Jefferson Awards in 1991 for his play Golem at the National Jewish Theatre and for his work on Nicole Hollander's hit musical, Sylvia's Real Good Advice. In 1995, Adams Media published his novel Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol (the backstage version of Dickens' Scrooge story told by Marley's Ghost;) it became a Chicago Tribune bestseller. The audio version has been broadcast nationwide on NPR for seven seasons, and received an INDI Award for Spoken Word from the Association for Independent Music. The play version received the prestigious Cunningham Prize from the Goodman School of Drama at Depaul.

Jenn Haltman (Director) is a director, casting director, and producer and is delighted to be making her Mile Square debut. With her company Between Two Boroughs, she has produced and directed Trich, Cannibal Galaxy: a love storySummertime, and The Understudy. Other directing credits include Cast and Loose Live! (series at Joe's Pub), Gun Play (Sam French Festival), and Maybe Never Fell (Axial Theatre).

Mile Square Theatre is located at 1400 Clinton Street in Hoboken, New Jersey. It was founded in 2003 as a non-profit professional theatre.
