Newark Arts to Provide Renewal Grants for Artists Affected by COVID-19

originally published: 11/07/2022

(NEWARK, NJ) --  Individual artists who reside in Newark, New Jersey, and whose livelihoods have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic are encouraged to apply for a Newark Arts Renewal Grant. It is open now through November 17th at 11:59pm.

The Newark Arts Renewal Grant, made possible via funding from the New Jersey Arts and Culture Renewal Fund, is a need-based mini-grant in the amount of $1,500. The grant is intended to provide financial support to individual artists as they continue to create music, dance, theatre, film, visual and literary art projects.

“Although we are slowly emerging from the effects of the pandemic, the arts sector was the first to shut down and among the last disciplines to recover.   Individual artists do so much to enhance the communities and spaces we inhabit. This funding provided to Newark Arts to support artists from the New Jersey Arts and Culture Renewal Fund is designed to help artists in their creative practices,” said Felicia A. Swoope, Executive Director, Newark Arts.

The application can be accessed at newarkarts.org/renewal-grant from November 7, 2022 through November 17, 2022 at 11:59pm.
