PHOTOS from "Third" at Nutley Little Theatre

By John Posada

originally published: 10/28/2022

(NUTLEY, NJ) -- Nutley Little Theatre is presenting Third by Wendy Wasserstein across three weekends (October 27-30, November 3-6, November 10-12). The production is directed by Brendan Stackhouse. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

His name is Woodson Bull III, but you can call him "Third." And Professor Laurie Jameson is disinclined to like his jockish, jingoistic attitude. He is, as she puts it, "a walking red state."

Believing that Third’s sophisticated essay on King Lear could not possibly have been written by such a specimen, Professor Jameson reports his plagiarism to the college’s Committee of Academic Standards. But is Jameson’s accusation justified?  Or is she casting Third as the villain in her own struggle with her relationships, her age and the increasingly polarized political environment?

Performances take place October 28, 29, November 4, 5, 10, 11, 12 @ 8:00pm; October 30, November 6 & 12 @ 2:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online.

The production features Penny Paul as Laurie; Alex Ward as Third; Jillian Mauro as Emily; Rachelle Rennagel as Nancy; and Jim Simpson as Jack.
