(MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- The Theater Project is presenting 5 Lesbians Eating A Quiche from September 8-18, 2022 at the Burgdorff Cultural Center. The play by Evan Linder and Andrew Hobgood takes place in 1956 when some "bachelor gals" refer themselves as widows to avoid embarrassing questions.  Photographer John Posada was at a dress rehearsal to take photos.

The Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein are having their annual quiche contest (“no men, no meat, all manners”) when the atomic bomb sirens sound! Has the ever-present Communist threat come to pass? Will the white gloves come off to fight for home and country? Most important -- will good taste save the day?

Productions take place Thursday through Saturday at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. Tickets are $25 (general), $20 (seniors), and $15 (students).  Senior Sunday is September 11 when tickets for seniors are $15. Tickets are available for purchase online.

The cast includes Carol Cornicceli, Harry Patrick Christian, Sheleah Harris, Tara Nicole Murphy, and Ellen Revesz.

Masks and proof of vaccination required at all performances. The Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts is located at 10 Durand Road in Maplewood, New Jersey.

5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche was first presented by The New Colony, under Co-Artistic directors Andrew Hobgood and Evan Linder and producing director Will Rogers, at Dank Haus in Chicago, Illinois, on June 24, 2011. It was directed by Sarah Gitenstein. This production was subsequently presented in New York City at the 2012 New York International Fringe Festival, before transferring to the SoHo Playhouse, Off-Broadway, on October 20, 2012.

The Theater Project was founded in 1994. For over twenty years, under the leadership of Mark Spina, Artistic Director, they have provided well-rounded programs on a relatively small budget to audiences who relish and seek out stimulating, new theater.  Providing a forum to express ideas that spark the imagination, and challenge the mind is what they strive to do. Encouraging their audiences to think beyond the status quo and elevate the discourses around important contemporary issues is germane to their purpose. Most importantly, their audience is willing to take a chance on a title or author they have never encountered before, knowing they will be engaged, challenged and entertained.

John Posada is a New Jersey based photographer specializing in photographing live theatre and music performances. For more than 15 years, John has photographed live events where he mastered the techniques of timing and capturing fast moving action under challenging lighting conditions. Currently, John has spent the last 3 years concentrating on photographing almost 200 theatre productions for over 70 different theatres. Click here for John's website.
