"I have known Micky for 50 years, we have played together many times,” Cavaliere said. “I have so many memories and laughs from the times we have shared. He is a tremendous talent and entertainer. I am very excited about our tour and the nonstop laughs ahead."
I have always been a fan of Felix as a consummate vocalist and stage performer,” Dolenz said. “Performing with him over the years has been an honor and a gas. A Rascal and a Monkee… What could be more fun?”
Early in 1965, Cavaliere formed the ‘Young Rascals’ with Dino Danelli, Eddie Brigati and Gene Cornish. That October, they caught the attention of promoter/manager Sid Bernstein with their high-energy set at Long Island’s elite club, Barge. Signed to Atlantic Records, and now called The Rascals, the mega hit “Good Lovin’” struck No. 1 in February 1966. They followed suit with a string of hits like “I’ve Been Lonely Too Long,” “Groovin’”(No. 1 in 1967), “How Can I Be Sure,” “A Girl Like You,” “A Beautiful Morning,” and “People Got to Be Free” (No. 1 in 1968). The Rascals are considered the best ‘blue-eyed soul’ group to come out of the 1960s, as well as one of the groups with the most record sales.
Felix’s autobiography “Memoir of a Rascal…From Pelham, NY To The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame” will be released this month, on March 22 via Ingram Spark. The book features a forward by famed rock ‘n’ roll deejay Cousin Brucie. The cover is an original photograph by Linda McCartney taken during The Rascals’ New York City’s The Phone Booth concert. Cavaliere’s gregarious writing is enhanced by heartfelt memories of the magic of the Rascals, his spiritual journey and guru Swami Satchidananda’s lifechanging influence, and professional accomplishments like being named to the Musicians Hall of Fame Fans can also expect Cavaliere’s new album, “Then & Now,” to arrive the end of summer 2022.
Originally conceived for television audiences in 1965, The Monkees aired for two seasons (52 episodes) on NBC. The situational comedy centered on a band trying to make it big, featuring Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork and Davy Jones. The show was an instant double-barrel smash catapulting both the show and music headfirst into pop culture.
Dolenz can be heard on the smash hits “Last Train To Clarksville”, “I’m A Believer”, “I’m Not Your Stepping Stone”, “Pleasant Valley Sunday” as well as the theme song to the TV show. Other Monkees’ top hits include “Daydream Believer”, “Valleri” and ”DW Washburn.”
Dolenz’ 2021 solo album, “Dolenz Sings Nesmith” earned some of the best reviews of his career and has landed on several Best Of Lists for 2021.
