OCC Repertory Theater Company presents "The Crucible"


(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Grunin Center for the Arts at Ocean County College will transform into 17th century Salem this month when the OCC Repertory Theater Company presents Arthur Miller’s classic, The Crucible, at the Black Box Theater.  The production is directed by Paul Chalakani and presented by special arrangement with Dramatist Play Service, Inc.  Performances take place April 22-24 and April 29 to May 1st.

Brett Dean's "Hamlet" Arrives at the Met


(NEW YORK, NY) -- From May 13 to June 9, the Metropolitan Opera presents the North American premiere of composer Brett Dean and librettist Matthew Jocelyn’s acclaimed opera Hamlet, starring tenor Allan Clayton, soprano Brenda Rae, mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly, baritone Rod Gilfry, and bass-baritone John Relyea, conducted by Nicholas Carter.
Shane Cooley Releases "Forest"


Moved by the tumultuous times in the world and his personal life, Shane Cooley's new album, Forest, delves into the shadows of his conceptual wilderness. The result is a hauntingly thoughtful blend of minimalist folk and American roots music, tinged with his own modern production.
Colin Hay to perform at Monmouth University


(WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- Monmouth University's Center for the Arts presents singer-songwriter Colin Hay on Thursday, April 14 at 8:00pm in the Pollak Theatre. Hay is touring in support of his latest album, "Now and the Everymore", which was released in March. Tickets range from $48-$60.
White Eagle Hall Celebrates 5 Year Anniversary This May


(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- This May, White Eagle Hall will celebrate their five year anniversary. Originally constructed in 1910 and reopened in 2017 after a multi-year, multi-million-dollar renovation, the 800-person capacity music venue in Jersey City first show was Jersey City legends Rye Coalition on May 5, 2017.
Shamarr Allen to Perform at Exit Zero Jazz Festival


(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- New Orleans singer, songwriter, producer, trumpeter, and multi-instrumentalist Shamarr Allen is coming to Cape May on Sunday, May 15 to perform at the Exit Zero Jazz Festival on his 45+ date spring and summer tour supporting his forthcoming album, True Orleans 2. Shamarr will be appearing on the Carney’s Other Room stage with back-to-back sets: 7:00-8:10pm and 9:20pm-10:30pm.

Laughs in the Loft to Celebrate 1st Anniversary with Show on SOPAC's Mainstage


(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- Laughs in the Loft is a monthly series hosted by South Orange-based comedian Joe Larson. Each show features several stand-up comedians. On Wednesday, June 1, the South Orange Performing Arts Center will celebrate the one-year anniversary of this series with a special show on the SOPAC mainstage. The lineup includes Jon Fisch, Usama Siddiquee, and Jessica Kirson. The show begins at 7:30pm.

Jersey City Theater Center to Host April 14 Screening of "Julia Blue" from Ukrainian American Roxy Toporowych


(JERSEY CITY,NJ) -- Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC) , together with Ukrainian JC and Ukrainian and Jersey City artists, announce a screening of the feature-length film Julia Blue on Thursday, April 14 at 7:30pm. The screening takes place at JCTC Studios (165 Newark Avenue, Jersey City) with all proceeds for the direct benefit of the people of Ukraine. Julia Blue (running time: 90 minutes) is written and directed by Roxy Toporowych, a first-generation Ukrainian American. Toporowych will introduce her film and lead a discussion and Q&A following the screening.

(NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) welcomes New Jersey native Fran Lebowitz to Newark on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 3:00pm for conversation, sass, and wits! Lebowitz,known for her sardonic social commentary on American life as filtered through her New York sensibilities, was born and raised in Morristown. Some reviewers have called her a modern-day Dorothy Parker, and now Fran invites you to discover the woman behind the name in this evening of intimate conversation.
Montclair Art Museum Presents From My Home to Yours: Caroline Monnet and Laura Ortman


(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Montclair Art Museum (MAM) will host the immersive video, sound, and print installation From My Home to Yours: Caroline Monnet and Laura Ortman  from May 7, 2022 through January 1, 2023 with an accompanying performance series that reactivates its themes. Presented in the United States for the first time, the installation transforms MAM’s Rand Gallery into a vivid, resonant space to pause and reflect on home, long-distance connection, and the places in between.

Jersey Shore Team Hope Walk/5K Run To Support HDSA To Take Place April 30th


(LAKE COMO, NJ) -- The New Jersey Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) will host the Jersey Shore Team Hope Walk/5K Run on Saturday, April 30th at 8:00am at Bar Anticipation in Lake Como, NJ. All proceeds support HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by Huntington’s disease (HD) and their families. 
Historic Farmstead to Tell the True Story


(SKILLMAN, NJ) -- The Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum (SSAAM) and Sourland Conservancy have partnered to purchase and save the historic True family farmstead. Located in Skillman, the property was originally owned by a Black Union army veteran who worked as a farmer after the Civil War. In 1891, after his death, his wife Corinda married Spencer True, a descendant of the former slave Friday Truehart; Truehart had gained his freedom in 1819 and became an early African American landowner in the Sourland Region.
