McCarter Theatre presents Legendary Violinist Kyung Wha Chung

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- One of the world's great violinists, Kyung Wha Chung, returns to McCarter Theatre Center for the first time in nearly 40 years on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 7:30pm, joined by pianist Kevin Kenner. This appearance marks a highlight of Chung's 60th year in music and is part of her limited international tour, which includes only three U.S. engagements—Princeton, Worcester (MA), and New York's Carnegie Hall.

Split Level Concerts presents James Maddock with special guest Jackson Pines

(OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter James Maddock and his band will perform at Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 8:00pm. Back in 2003, a CD by a band from New Jersey called Stereosoul arrived in my mailbox. I was hooked by the first song. They were a power-pop rock band with very catchy lyrics that seemed something like a mashup of Fountains of Wayne and The Beach Boys. That album was the final evolution of a previous band named Cosmic Avenger. Unfortunately, it wound up being the band's only record.

"My Mississippi Roots," I'm going deep on that one," said bassist James "JB" Barnes as he discussed the recently released album of the same name. "I had to reach back to my family history on my father's side. My dad was from Port Gibson, Mississippi, was born in 1928 and he's not with us anymore but he is my lineage. The Barnes family name comes from that part of Mississippi, Claiborne County and that's where my dad is from; there's a lot of tradition down there in Mississippi; look at the blues musicians who came out of there (Mississippi). Muddy Waters, B.B. King, there is a lot of history down there, good, bad and ugly."
