Writers Stage Original Radio Plays at The Basie Cinema

by Chris Lillja, JerseyArts.com - published 2023-09-07

Writing is rarely easy, even for people who love to do it. People aspiring to write often take on daunting projects that make it difficult to learn the fundamentals of crafting dialogue and narrative structure. The Labyrinth Theatre, a part of Red Bank's Project Write Now (PWN), is helping writers young and old crack through their barriers and succeed by breaking the task down to a 'fun' size.

Things That Didn’t Happen screens at the Fall 2023 New Jersey Film Festival on Sunday, September 10!

by Natalie Tango - published 2023-09-06

Joshua Kaufman’s Things That Didn’t Happen shows a profoundly disturbed and troubled man getting interrogated about a car accident he is suspected of being involved in. The integration takes place in a retro room, indicated by the colors of the carpet and other decor. However, it is as if the viewer can smell the mildew smell through the lens. The atmosphere of the setting, along with the quiet voices from both the interrogator and the suspect alone, is all due to an overall sense of uncomfortableness throughout the 12-minute short film.
