(RED BANK, NJ) -- Count Basie Center for the Arts presents Fortune Feimster: Live Laugh Love! on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 6:00pm. Affable, charismatic and one of a kind, Fortune Feimster is a standup comedian, writer and actor who uses her confessional comedy to bring people together. Through laughter and storytelling, Fortune shows audiences of all ages, backgrounds, and sexual orientations that common ground is only a joke or two away.

Partying with the Great Gatsby

F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby is considered by many to be the greatest novel ever written by an American (all right, Herman Melville's Moby Dick a close second). It is the story of an incredibly wealthy World War I war hero who has not seen his girlfriend in five years and tries desperately to get her back. He buys a Rolls Royce car, builds a multi-million-dollar mansion and throws the wildest parties the 1920s had ever seen. The problem is that in those long, long five years she married and had a child. So where does our rich war hero, Jay Gatsby, go?

State Theatre New Jersey presents "Chicago, the Musical"

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents four performances of Chicago the Musical - Saturday, November 18 at 2:00pm & 8:00pm and Sunday, November 19 at 1:00pm & 6:30pm. Jersey Jazz great Jerry Weldon will record a live album on Nov. 3 at New Brunswick Performing Arts Center. One of the tunes he'll record, "Sunny V," is the Makin Waves Song of the Week.

SCTC Presents "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time"

Next up at the South Camden Theatre Company's Waterfront South Theatre is "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time," based on the award-winning 2003 novel by British author Mark Haddon and adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens. The production opens on Nov 3 and continues Friday and Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoons through Nov 19, 2023.

Performances take place in the Black Box Theater at the Grunin Center for the Arts from Thursday, October 26 through Sunday, November 5, 2023. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

"Friends & Family," began Firefall's Jock Bartley, "Our manager Len Fico who is also our record label, he suggested to me and Mark Andes when Mark was still in the band and who has since retired before we started this record; he said, "You know, the original guys in Firefall, many of you played in other famous bands; why don't you do an album of just their material?" When he said that, the lightbulb went off in my head and I said, "That's great but why don't we expand that?"
