The Nutcrackers Are Back and the Memories of Childhood Return

It is the holiday season and so the Nutcracker ballet, that timeless gem of Christmas, is back, too. There are a thousand fascinating stories to tell about the Nutcracker, now and in the past, and this is one of them – that of Ethan Stiefel, artistic director of the American Repertory Ballet, when he was a kid.

(NETCONG, NJ) -- The Growing Stage: The Children's Theatre of New Jersey is presenting a holiday production of Ella Enchanted weekends until December 17, 2023 on Saturdays and Sundays. Written by Karen Zacarias with music by Deborah Wicks La Puma, Ella Enchanted is adapted from the book by Gail Carson Levine and introduces us to Ella of Frell, who is given the "gift" of obedience by Lucinda, her misguided Fairy Godmother. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

State Theatre New Jersey Presents The Hip Hop Nutcracker

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents The Hip Hop Nutcracker on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 8:00pm. This is Tchaikovsky's 130-year-old ballet reimagined as a holiday dance spectacle, will travel to STNJ this holiday season while celebrating the show’s 10th season. Tickets range from $39-$69.

NJPAC To Host Forces of Nature Dance Theatre in Celebration of Kwanzaa

New Jersey Ballet presents "The Nutcracker" at MPAC with music by New Jersey Symphony

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- New Jersey Ballet's presentation of the holiday favorite Nutcracker comes to Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) for 13 performances beginning Friday, December 15 and running until Wednesday, December 27, 2023. New Jersey Symphony under the direction of Constantine Kitsopoulos will provide live orchestral accompaniment. A livestream of the Thursday, December 21 performance will also be available. Tickets range from $39-$79.

Rock On! This week's Sound Bites...12/7/23

"We did," began a laughing Blues/Rock guitarist Lance Lopez, "We put out a "Live in NYC" album a while back but we have put out a couple of albums since the live record. We put out a record in 2018 called "Tell The Truth" on the Mascot/Provogue label and this album came out a while back and we're pretty proud of it; we worked on it all through the pandemic so, it's a pandemic piece."
