(PLAINSBORO, NJ) -- The award-winning Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra will present their Holiday Concert on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 7:00pm. The Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra consists of professional musicians, high-level amateurs, university students, and gifted pre-college students. Its conductor, Ms. Chiu-Tze Lin, is a highly acclaimed musician who has performed around the world and is active throughout the Tri-State Area.
The concert will be held at the Princeton Alliance Church, which is located at 20 Schalks Crossing, on the corner of Scudders Mill Road and Schalks Crossing in Plainsboro, NJ. The concert will feature pianist Chiu-Ling Lin in the performance of Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin.
With Rhapsody in Blue, Gershwin inaugurated a new era in America’s musical history, and the piece has become one of the most popular on the American concert stage. The soloist, Chiu-Ling Lin, is an internationally recognized pianist, educator and former US Artistic Ambassador who has made extensive solo appearances in South America. Ms. Lin has been described by the New York Times and in other reviews as having "great impact, not only with her exceptional virtuosity, but also with her ability to capture the intent of the composer” and a "great sense of style - emotional strength - impressive quality in performance..."
An energetic and passionate performer, Ms. Lin made her Carnegie Weill Recital Hall debut as the winner of the East and West Young Artist Auditions. She has soloed with orchestras such as the Atlanta Symphony, Chicago Civic Orchestra, Singapore Symphony, and Des Moines Symphony. Her appearances in New York, Boston, Chicago, England, Canada, and throughout the Far East have featured Ms. Lin's unique mix of music by Chinese and Western composers. Her virtuosity is showcased in the CD “Portraits of China.”
A resident of West Windsor, Ms. Lin is Vice-President of the New Jersey Music Teachers Association. She is an honoree of the Steinway Teachers Hall of Fame and has been recognized as a Foundation Fellow by the Music Teachers National Association. This concert marks her return engagement with the Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra. She last performed with the orchestra in 2018, where she awed the audience with Ravel’s “Concerto for the Left Hand.”
The program will also include a classic for the holiday season, Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kije Suite. This is an orchestral suite in five movements, originally written as the score for the 1934 film “Lieutenant Kijé.” To celebrate the Holiday Season, the orchestra will perform a medley of Jewish folk songs for Hanukkah as well as festive Christmas music.
The audience will be invited to join in the ever-popular Holiday Music Sing-Along at the end of the concert.
General admission is $25, and $22 for seniors and students. Premium seating is available at $40 each. Tickets purchased in advance are $20 and are available for purchase online.
