(UPPER MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- In 2015, playwright Mike Bartlett wrote of an imagined future where Queen Elizabeth dies and Prince Charles ascends the throne. Studio Players presents his play, King Charles III, across three weekends from October 6-21, 2023 at Studio Playhouse. The production is directed by Emily Miller.
Flashforward to 2023, where Charles and Camilla now rule. See where fiction meets reality in this exploration of the people beneath the crowns, the unwritten rules of UK democracy, those undermined in an ever-changing game of power, and the conscience or lack thereof of the Windsors.
The cast includes Jonathan Richards (King Charles), Anne McPhillips (Camilla), John L’Ecuyer (Prince William), Monica Ross (Kate Middleton), Atilla Toy (Prince Harry), Sarah Decker (Jess), Lori Smith (Prime Minister), E. Dale Smith-Gallo (Mr. Stevens), Allen Roberts (James Reiss), Rachelle Mandik (Female Ensemble), Zachary Conner (Male Ensemble), and AJ Wolf (Male Ensemble).
Performances take place October 6-7, 13-14, 20-21 at 8:00pm; and October 8, 15 at 3:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online.
Studio Playhouse is located at 14 Alvin Place in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. Studio Players was founded in 1937. They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is entirely run by volunteers.
