"She's NorMale – A Transgender Odyssey" to Debut in Asbury Park

originally published: 11/30/2024

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- She's NorMale – A Transgender Odyssey, a groundbreaking live multimedia musical production by Geenetica (Geena Buono), will premiere on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the House of Independents in Asbury Park. This matinee event will run from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, with doors and bar opening at 2:00pm. An afterparty will follow from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

This one-of-a-kind production blends live original music, biopic storytelling, spoken word, poetry, and stunning graphic animation—each visual envisioned by Geenetica and brought to life by projection designer Denis Randall. Together, these elements weave a deeply personal yet universal narrative about the beauty and challenges of transgender life.

“For me, it’s about showing that the journey to authenticity is as beautiful as it is challenging,” says Geenetica. “This isn’t just my story; it’s a celebration of what makes us all human—our courage, our flaws, and the connections we create.”

The live band features an impressive lineup of local talent, including: Faye Fadem (Drums), Kevin Stryker (Bass), John Kadian (Keyboards), Denis Blume (Lead Guitar), and Geenetica (Lead Vocals and Acoustic Guitar).

Tickets are $40 (plus fees) and available for purchase online. Fee-free purchases available in person at Rebel Supply Company, 550 Cookman Ave, Asbury ParkHouse of Independents is located at 572 Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
